Looking at the teams we double up, for sure no excuses. however, when you dive deeper into the draw its not that friendly.

Round 3-5, back to back 6 day breaks including travelling twice.
Rounds 6-8, back to back 6 day breaks with a trip to Perth in the middle.
Round 11 we go to Sydney on a 5 day break.
Wouldn’t it have been easier to write a 6 week stretch of 6 day breaks

Dees in 2023 but not by much. Can see both making top 4.

I think this could become a nice little rivalry over the next few years. They seem to match up nicely and the Blues will want to show something after the way our last meeting ended.
Ourselves and the Dees have 29 flags between us. We're both the two oldest Melbourne clubs as well. Yet we've never played the Dees in a grand final. It would have happened in 1987 alright, if it wasn't for Jim Stynes running across the mark!

wow, I didn't know that

That is really odd

I have the Blues 4th in 2023 and the demons 5th.

Walsh will be a big loss early on but the Blues have excellent midfield depth to cover him. Their backline will be better with Weitering back fully fit. Any forward line with a fit curnow and Harry mcckay is going to be hard to beat. Curnow will go to another level in 2023. It’s all mental for the Blues next season. Their list is built and it’s time to challenge for a flag.

Grundy and hunter are both excellent recruits for the Demons but their lack of a quality key forward will hurt. Gawn will spend more time forward and cause some issues for opposition teams but is not the answer. Van Rooyen looks like a nice prospect but is 2 years minimum off being the player the Dees need. Their midfield and backline is strong enough to get them pushing for a top 4 spot.

This is classic 'analysis' on the Blues...

Talk about how their list is primed to challenge for a flag and reference only their top handful of players, one of whom has unfortunately already been ruled out without a known return date.

Carlton got 93% of games and 109 goals out of Curnow and McKay in 2022. What is the likelihood of a better return in 2023? Possible but certainly not probable.

Who is this 'midfield depth' of which you speak? Dow? O'Brien?

😮😮😮
Nah none of Carltons bottom 8 players will improve, stick to that and we'll see how you go next season.

How about Carroll, Motlop, Durdin and Kemp.

In Jack Dyer’s immortal words Carroll, Motlop and Kemp might make “good ordinary players”. Durdin has greater scope.

Cripps might improve by committing to running both ways.
