I don't know. I saw him play when I was a kid, maybe against St Kilda. He marked everything. All I remember about the game is Bill Ryan.

Most of his marks are uncontested. He doesn't pick up a player so just stands in space.

Agreed most of his marks are uncontested and plays that position well. However, he is no slouch at contested marks either.

If I was taking a still active player for their entire career? Hawkins. Did it largely unsupported for huge stretches, and on every KPD around.

If I was taking one just for 2023? McKay. At his peak right now, pretty much undefendable 1-on-1.

Lynch and Gawn lead the contested marks stats last year so what's your problemo?
Maybe because no Collingwood player is in the top ten?

I think the stat of average contested marks per game, may not give you the full picture. If there was a stat which showed the % of contested marks won, that may be a little more accurate.

But, in the eye test, I think Lynch and Naughton are the 2 best.
