We were 3 or 4 times, car stolen once. Our rear fence backed onto the macdonnell ranges across from the casino, so they had pretty easy access. After we put motion sensing and screamer out the back we had 2-3 more attempts but then it stopped for us. Was a bit funny watching them climb over the fence and stealthily make their way to a back door. They be detected about 5m away and would just about be back over the fence before the sound got there.

I should have mentioned, the guy from that interview was from a bakery, apparently the kids who broke in kneaded the dough.

Looks like Mike Pence has joined the "keeping classified documents at home after leaving office" club.

Based on what's been reported so far, his situation seems very similar to Biden's - a small number of documents, including classified documents, inadvertently retained, self-reported and returned quickly (upon discovery).

It's beginning to look like this is a fairly common occurrence. I suspect there are a lot of former office holders, from both parties, searching their homes right now.

Biden and Pence have both done the right thing once the documents were discovered. Any comparison between their behaviour and Trump's is a false equivalence.
Your correct. First the denial, then the accidental discovery.

Gotta luv their athleticism

Funny story, Darren Clarke and I are actual enemies. To the point of physical confrontations. I don’t really know why, I’ve never had much against him, I think maybe by association. And there was a time when we’d have a beer together when we came across each other at functions. Could tell you some stories.

I’m just staggered

At one point in time my mates and I would spend Friday nights at the same pub/nightclub.. One friday night one of our mates, who was always with us, had this brawl with a lad (didn’t know him, had never seen him before) at this joint.. they both got kicked out.. and continued to blue in an empty parking lot across the road.. just the two of them..

in following weeks and months.. nearly every Friday night this mate of ours and this bloke would start the friday night downing beers and giving each other filthy looks across the bar.. then, once pissed enough, would approach each other, say nothing and just start fighting.

every week they’d get kicked out and end up in the empty parking lot across the road.. just the two of them, alone, punching on.. we’d watch em for a while from the windows of the front bar just laughing before returning to the pool table or whatever it was we were doing prior..

and as I said.. this went on nearly week after week for months.. and neither of the two of these lads even spoke a word to the other. It was just fxxkn bizarre.

but it eventually ended when we started going to different pub on friday nights.

anyway, so a few years later, I’m at Uni at the time, and one day I see this lad that my mate had been regularly brawling with years before.. he’s attending the same Uni.. and he’s a student in one of my subjects.. so eventually I struck up a conversation with the lad.. turned out he was a pretty decent bloke, liked surfing like we all did, we had a fair bit in common.. anyway over the next few months I became mates with this lad. he loved a beer and so did I so we’d spend a lot of time sinking beers and playing pool in the Uni bar..

Eventually I told him to come down to the local pub we used to drink at on Wednesday nights and have a few beers…so he did.. and my mate who he used to fight with was there that night too.

I introduced them and.. Long story short.. the two of em ended up becoming good mates!.. and the bloke ended up hooking up with, and eventually marrying, one of the chicks that sort of hung out with our big extended group of friends in the suburb of Adelaide we all lived around.

And they never once spoke of the fights they used have every Friday night all those years before.

I still to this day shake my head in disbelief when I think about that little passage in time… like I said.. it truely was bizarre.

I hate to break it to you, but this isn't the smoking gun you think it is. I refer you to the DSS website:
Cashless Debit Card | Department of Social Services, Australian Government

The Australian Government has announced the Cashless Debit Card (CDC) program is ending.

Since 3 October 2022, participants in the below locations can either volunteer for the program or move to self managed payments.
  • Ceduna and surrounding regions, South Australia
  • East Kimberley region, Western Australia
  • Goldfields region, Western Australia
  • Bundaberg and Hervey Bay region, Queensland
Participants located in Cape York, Doomadgee or the Northern Territory will remain on the CDC program. Services Australia will write to eligible participants outlining these changes. They do not need to do anything now.
So... Alice Springs residents remain on the CDC program.

Rishworth's statement is 100% correct.

Funny story, did you ask why they fought?

How ironic that the conservatives and their media hacks are all of a sudden deeply, deeply concerned about conditions in Alice Springs at the same time there is a debate about a First Nations Voice to Parliament and a growing push to recognise January 26th as not appropriate to celebrate the nation for a myriad of reasons.

Wow. Funny thing is that the conservatives have been on this for a while. It's the other side that were begrudgingly dragged into it for purely political reasons. Nice though, certainly showed us the type of person that you are.

Deep, deep concern 1970crow. Very genuine and very, very concerned.

then how have you missed the conservatives showing the same concern over the preceding many months? It's the other side that didn't want to get involved and have been dragged to the table. This is a matter that the right can't be seen as less of than the left.

Which months?

Both sides don't do enough on genuine First Nations issues.

My point is the irony of issues in Alice Springs garnering national media and airwaves attention from conservative lackeys when it suits.

you're a lost cause if you think there's an opportunity to discredit the conservative side on this. Especially with the meaningless "both sides don't do enough", being the strongest criticism of the left that you can muster. Reality is that they simply don't care. Their entire policy on indigenous issues is a misguided ideolegy and aboriginal people causing problems for themselves and their own community doesn't fit. Hence, they desperately avoided being dragged into it. And when they did, their 'solution' was in perfect step and spoke volumes.
