The Manager Merry-go-Round

He was. They still purchased a player using a loophole during a transfer ban. They didn't lose anyone because of it and gained at least one player.

If he was there the season before Frank was there I don't think you can say they gained someone when comparing the two seasons.

1st season at Chelsea: he couldn’t bring any players in give him a break.
2nd season at Chelsea: he bought new players in give him a break.

I mean it's not like they were that poor in the second season, a lot better than Potter when put in the same situation. Is Lampard better than Potter I guess?

Didn't they gain Pulisic? I'm saying that they weren't weakened by losing a player.

Think they'd bought him the previous season too and loaned him out but yeah that's a bit different for sure. Just think it's a bit of a re-write of history to ignore Mount, Abraham and Tomori going into that side and them still finishing top 4.

Seems like you’re guessing a lot of things regarding Lampards talent as a manager.

Guessing? The comparison to Potter was deliberately facile as the entire point about looking at the teams' positions the year before and the year after he was there is.

Oh I wasn't disregarding him bringing some academy players into the team. Rarely at Chelsea does a manager perform for more than a year. That clubs dressing room has been player led since 2004.

What a shambles of a club.

The thing is, if they'd backed him when they went down and brought in the players to suit his vision, he probably could have turned them around as he had good ideas, but they gave him absolutely nothing to work with.

Football clubs generally make stupid choices for manager. Wigan hiring someone who never managed before. Manchester United hiring David Moyes after Sir Alex Ferguson when there were much better managers available and giving him a 6 year contract. Manchester United hiring Ole from Norway and then handing him a 3 year contract. Chelsea hiring Frank Lampard (after his first ever managerial season, at Derby County) and then firing him after a year and a half, Everton then hiring Frank Lampard and sacking him because they discover he’s a s**t manager (they didn’t know this before they hired him?) and now about to hire Marcelo Bielsa, who had the last club he managed 17th in the league when he was fired. Aston Villa hiring Steven Gerrard.

Why do clubs continue to do this to themselves? 😂

Agreed, seems like Wigan is another club with poor/clueless owners.

Fergie hand picked Moyes himself to be his successor at Unites, it has to be said :)
