Jorginho only has 6 months left on his contract. It'd have to be a purchase.
As a third string option behind Partey and Caicedo, honestly, a £5-10m Jorghino is not a bad idea. But as either the second stringer and/or £20m? Not so sure about that.

Don’t know what’s happened with the Tielemens interest, seems to have completely cooled. Would feel much better with him in instead, and perhaps a rejig to the midfield to cover any Partey absence (Xhaka could always drop deeper for example).

He's had a crap season. Aside from hitting the odd stunner of a goal, he's been well below his best.

I've just realised something annoying. I'm going to wake up tomorrow, find out we didn't get Caicedo/Rice/Zubimendi, DID get Jorghino only for Chelsea to back out at the last second because they missed out on Fernandez, and my day is going to be ****ed before it's even started.

Sucky.

1.5 years and a negligible fee. Not sure on his wage but we’re not roped in for long, might still sell him to Italy come the next window. He wanted to go home, could be six months to cover and head home with another premier league title.

I'd prefer we didn't make a signing than what we have done here.

Couldn't afford to do nothing with El Neny latest injury. Only 6 months older then him too and most likely a much bigger upgrade.

Expensive given age and contract but there was no way of getting out of January without overpaying for someone.

Not sure how I feel.

PL proven, yes. No need to acclimatise or adjust to England. Experienced. Is he an upgrade on Elneny, perhaps that’s the way to view it? Unsure. A sense of desperation to it which I’m guessing means the Elneny injury is severe enough to do so.

Can he do the Partey job? No. Because no one else really can. Is he more reliable than Lokonga? Yes it seems so. Does it prevent going all out for Rice or Caicedo in the summer? Definetly not.

Some question marks throughout this though. £12m when he’s walking on a free in 5 months, another Chelsea outcast being sent Arsenal’s way. Helping them out given their ridiculously bloated squad. Some further questions too as to why it has been left so late.

The Mudryk stuff perhaps distracted the club for the opening two weeks of the window - an couple of recent big money transactions haven’t been able to have been closed for various reasons.

Is he better than doing nothing though, such as this time last year? Yes. Lots of thoughts going round and round in my head.

The key point that’s been recurring - Arteta rates him. And at this point, that’s probably good enough for me.

I need a lie down.

Pathetic. Edu has been aware of our midfield situation since last season and now has had two windows to bring someone in.
How disappointing
What did you want? He's a depth signing, imagine spending 90m pounds on Caicedo.

If Arteta likes him I'd be inclined to trust his judgement.

We have awesome youth and will no doubt sign more in the summer. The priority is the league title.

Jorginho for 12m and on an 18 month contract is just about as good as it was going to get on deadline day. Is good depth, better than Lukonga or El Neny and we can look to ship him off to Italy in 6 months, or if he does well keep him around as an experienced head for the Champions League.

I honestly don't understand the utter contempt some Arsenal fans online are pushing for this deal, seems perfectly fine to me, we have spent between 50 and 60m this window and built out some decent depth nicely.

IMO this is much better than spending 80m on Caicedo who at this time is no where near worth that amount of coin. This deal doesn't affect our ability to chase our targets in the summer.

Most recent game comp. Played more forward passes in that game then El Neny has made in his Arsenal career.

Always a lot of talk regarding DM/Deep lying midfielders of needing to great athletes but the most important thing is strong understanding of the game and never being out of position. Jorginho has always ranked highly for interceptions which is a good sign. For a team in our position it's a deal that make more sense than a lot of other options some fans would rather (not talking about Caicedo).

It should never have got to this position in the first place. We've had multiple windows to address our midfield depth.

If we can ride out the season and our depth doesn't cost us the ultimate prize then it was a calculated risk. But if it does come back to haunt us then it will be pretty unforgivable.

If Jorginho is just called upon to play a role then so be it. But any midfield with him at the base isn't going to be defensively sound.

Isn't Jorginho the definition of good depth? He's a starting mid for Chelsea and will now be depth for us. Don't see what's cooked about him he has been a regular this season.
