Went with my 3 year old so was only half watching and left early in the last quarter. If Covid rips through both clubs, we are better placed.

Taylor stood out as several levels above all this. He came off in the hands of trainers a second time - in the third quarter - looked to be some concern. Looked from behind the bench like he got his ankle restrapped, did some run throughs and didn’t seem all that happy, but went back out there to start the last quarter. He looks a player who will adjust to AFL football because of his understanding of time and space.

Brown and Cook also caught my eye. Brown just looked like a very good SANFL footballer though, unlike Taylor.

Gollant kicked at least 6 I reckon. Was a dead eye from set shots and took a couple of nice grabs.

A number of the players from the ones there, as well as Nicks, Kelly and Silvers.

Was Butts playing today?

If he wasn't maybe he's got some sort of injury issue.

Butts played but was not great. He was serviceable but did not play last qr and looked hampered by shoulder and leg injury at end of game.

Taylor was good again today but he copped a number of knocks during the game to the head shoulder and ankle. Number of really good tackles and willingness to chase. Very good user of ball and as elder Van Berlo
Stated he has understanding of time and space in his play. Set up a few goals with his use of the ball by foot

A word on Jones and Keane?

Jones I didn’t notice very much but he’s a pretty non descript looking guy. He could’ve had 30 touches for all I know. Missed a couple of gettable but not gimme set shots in the first quarter and took a nice body on body mark and goal in the second. At that point I noticed he’d had (at least) three shots and wondered if he was playing forward. He wasn’t. He was on a wing. Did a couple of other good things as well but didn’t jump out at me.

Keane didn’t make any obvious mistakes but the defence wasn’t very busy either. Took a couple of nice intercept marks. Otherwise didn’t notice him. Came off under the blood rule with a cut on his eye/face at one stage.

Cook and Jones played on the wings and were clear winners on the day. Both will be in best players. Jones played like a
First round draft choice dominating his wing and using the ball well except for his kicking for goal. He won one on one balls and played the wing position exceptionally well. He does not often get much of the ball but that was not an issue today

Cook was a willow of the wisp and constantly used his run to advantage. He looked confident and was prepared to shimmy and take on his opponents He is a great kick and if he plays like this more consistently he should be in the league team

Looked to me to be playing exclusively on the wing. Stayed more involved than he usually does and used very well. Kicked an opportunist little soccer goal from a meter out. I noticed him - but that might be because I was looking for him on account of being fed up with the trash Brodie Smith keeps dishing up.

How did Taylor look in transition ? ( both offensive / defensive)

Offensive good. Defensive didn’t happen often. Laid a couple of good tackles but that was more in the contest than in transition.

Nank played his best game of the year today and was one of the teams
Best players. He played on Flinayson at times and took him to the cleaners. He has looked a little lost in defence up until today but he played well spoiling when necessary and taking good marks when in the best position He has a great kick in him but he still needs to work on his left foot

He played because I remember realising at one point that he was out there. I didn’t notice anything in particular he did.

Again that doesn’t necessarily mean much because I wasn’t watching very closely and our defence didn’t have much to do.
