Ignore who gets head knocks playing where.

Paddy’s latest came from brushing the turf.

That is both alarming and scary.

I get he might be okay to play again next week. But John Brown was saying at the end of his career the slightest hits would drop him.

Not worth it. Walk away. Think about yourself paddy & your family.
💯 you get a glass jaw. I got concussed lot playing footy and have don’t and competed in martial arts my whole life. I have had multiple concussion to the point where a slight bump on the head can wreck me for days. It has a massive cumulative effect

I don't disagree, my comment was that it was probably worthwhile giving him the run in the back line, ( as less likely to have multiple concussions than his previous role as a forward ).
Having determined that there is still a serious risk to his health, it should be more acceptable to Paddy to retire now than it was several years ago.

They will have to bring in a few rules about concussion - put a limit on how many times they get concussed or the severity of the concussion - knowing one of the times Paddy was concussed it took him months to recover - that time should of been a telling sign to hang up the boots.
The AFL are currently being taken to court for this reason - time someone has to make the call , either club or AFL.

Yeah, same, I got king hit a couple of times and after that I only need a light head knock to get concussion symptoms.

My wife has a mate that went to uni with her that is doing CTE and sport related concussion study at Monash I think it was. Pretty interesting. She was saying that I might be okay because the work that they are doing suggests that it's quick succession concussions that are the really problematic ones. If players are rested for a long time between concussions it shouldn't be as bad for long term damage. She seemed to think that it might mean long layoffs like months for serious head knocks in sport in the future.

I don't know if one size fits all rules are the best idea.
In Paddy's case there could be some sort of interaction with his Diabetes. That seems to be a complicated subject.
Diabetes could exacerbate the symptoms of Concussion, or it could make him more prone to concussion. ( Different things ).
Someone could probably do a thesis on Paddy.

But yeah , i think its time for Paddy.

McCartin's last head knock only really looked as he grazed the turf , he is cooked.

His last one in St Kilda colours was equally innocuous and he was out for a couple of seasons, he surely has to be done and his brother is only one or two away as well. Unfortunately there are some that are more susceptible than others.

If they were my sons, I'd be imploring them to do something else, the amount they get paid, it cannot be worth it to risk the quality of life after football.

Even in the NFL where you can stick another zero or two onto what an AFL player gets paid, and it would be questionable whether that was worth what's to come - only have to look at Barnes from GEE/ESS to see what happens, developing epilepsy to say the least, no thanks, I'd prefer to have no money and healthy then have a little bit and suffer fits or drive my car into a tree or worst, lose my shit and kill someone, yuk.

Every chance Paddy’s concussion came from when he landed on the turf as opposed to when his head then hit the ground. Not that this is any more promising, though, since both impacts were very in occupied.

I’d also highlight that Paddy is a unique case, as far as the modern game goes, as he returned too early between concussions, sustaining secondary impacts before recovery of the initial concussion. This is why his issues are a lot more complex and less straightforward than the average player, and more in line with players of the past

If Fyfe took a seriously low contract, and he wasn’t guaranteed any games without earning them, maybe. I just don’t see how Fyfe could help us, especially given he’ll be another year older.

Same question as always.
After we delist at least 3 for the draft, who would we delist for Fyfe.

Already i don't want to delist anyone .
I can find two in exchange for 1st and 2nd round draft picks.
One for 3rd leaves a poor taste in my stomach, and a 4th for Fyfe turns that poor taste into nausea.

lol never gonna happen, even if Fyfe could be lured to another club I don't think we would even meet his premiership contender shortlist for a 1 and done shot. And the ones on his shortlist he would be at risk of not even being on the side in that last match. It's rubbish created for the sake of a media conversation.

Looks like Jay Clark's been on the bongs too

get on the bongs guys... might expand your mind!

won't cost anything in draft picks. UFA means we dont have to offer a decent contract. he won't rob any kid of any games. if he doesnt work out, meh! if he does... boy oh boy!!!!

plus i think it'd be delicious to watch nat fyfe walk out on freo.... would be like if roo left us for GC or the Pies...

sometimes you gotta attack the club at its very fabric! put a dagger through its soul.

Sounds good Jay

mate picture this! its 2024 ross gets us into a grand final and the absolute ferals that are the dockers supporters have to watch their captain and coach lift a premiership cup in st kilda colours. its their 2013 dream but its us 11 years later!!!!

its so ****in delicious!

imagine the melts... whilst they plead with colin young to release longmuir from their contract. omfg....

in terms of psychological scaring... thats multi generational. i don't think they'd ever get over it.

I have an open mind. The leadership and ambition are attractive but you'd want to be very sure he has one last crack left in him.

mate think of the damage we can do here!!!!!!

against freo!

like it's so bad and so ****in severe, the UN would probably sanction us for human rights violations

**** can you imagine the anger and tears!

Ross isn’t getting any younger.
Billings isn’t a midfielder.
Steele is becoming injury-prone.
Jones can’t get on the park.
Bytel can’t stay on it.
Gresham may leave in FA.
Byrnes was written off until very recently.
Stocker has played four games with us, that’s it.

That’s eight already.

You don’t stop improving in the middle… that’s how you end up with the Richo years…
Spot on
We are in no position to trade away any low picks for at least the next 2-3 years

The only way to get Ben would be to cobble together a couple of first rnd picks somehow through trading. Just can’t see how it can happen. Ben made his choice a few years back, he will most likely play for tigers, pies etc

Bombers were working on him and the Pies.
