Was thinking would west coast trade back again? To get 2 good picks? Then could get Curtin plus someone else?

We could and looking at WA talent maybe we should.

Tholstrop sounds promising but I'd like Moir.

Similar players to a degree.

Maybe we trade for the Suns 1st and use that on Tholstrop.

2 Moir
7 Tholstrop
20 Mitch Edwards
28ish Best available
58 Coen Livingston

If you want to think that that's your prerogative.

Just don't be surprised if he slides.

And don't be surprised if the Eagles look elsewhere.

Often a top 5 player slides. The whisper is he may well be this year's.

We will see.
…few weeks ago was told similar about young ruck Edwards (and I am not in any real “loop”) A couple of questions on Elijah Hewett last year’s slider too.
Wild, Wild West it would seem.

Are you sure it's Curtin? I only saw that it was a WA player

The poster only said a very promising tall WA kid who will likely go early.

Was Not drug related.

Did not involve bad behaviour to girls or involving tents or fighting other kids etc.

But he saw some footage circulating on social media and that it wasn't too flash.
Sounds like the rumour I was fed about Edwards. Not going to elaborate as is very rank and in no way can verify.

My DM’s are always open if you want to talk about things…
No desire to. I responded to early suggestion of rumour that I had been told something about Edwards. Having a dig at WA rumour mill. I have no verification , but was by someone who has some credibility, don’t know his source. As the above post suggested did not involve, drugs, girls or race. The last suggestion of a high draft WA tall with some clarification of what it was not rings true with what I was told. Certainly was not regarding Curtin as said poster assumed.

Whatever the rumour, its about Mitch Edwards and not Daniel Curtin, anyway I hope it's nothing too bad and it's just down to being immature young kids.

I suspect their number 1 target will be Daniel Curtin. If we hold pick 2 and they know we will pick him if they don’t. They can’t trade down anyway as he will be gone at pick 2 anyway. If we refuse to pay overs to trade up to pick 1, they may just pick Daniel Curtin anyway!

Looking at the squads, surprised to see no:

Warburton.
Jagga Smith.
Trainor.
Hollow.
Kitchell.
Travers.
Retschko.
Constanzo.
Smillie.
Fanning.

Even Kerr's not there.
I think all of these players are under agers and not certain to be picked for u18s, maybe 3-6 underagers get picked for the u18s squad as they prioritise draft age kids

I'm surprised that Malachai White wasn't named? Unless he is an auto selection with Harley Reid ect?, Smillie is either injured or auto selected I would think, I'm also a bit surprised Trainor, Jagga Smith and Levi Ashcroft aren't getting a look?

Doubt West Coast will be just focused on Curtain. Pick one would be Reid unless a big offer came and even then maybe still Reid.
If they hold pick 2 or 3 then I’d imagine it’s best available unless someone wanted to jump up and had a reasonable offer.

There were concerns with the Vic Metro pool being flight risks last year. Hard to see that being as much of an issue this year how many will be top 10 anyway.

AFL Academy Game V Port Adelaide Magpies, Francou, Clurrey and Georgiades being the bigger name opponents, game was competitive and only in the 4th quarter for 10 minutes seemed rain affected, it was a good game, Port kept the lead all game but the Academy was coming at them, 5 players stood out as ready to play at State League level now and potentially dominate.
Standouts for the AFL Academy

1. 11 points, Harley Reid, played in all 3 areas of the ground, but mostly mid, won a bit of the ball, looked clean and strong against SANFL opposition, kicked a goal as well
2. 10 points, Jake Rogers, very quick, laid a few strong tackles and looked great against mature opposition, should rise up some draft lists, could go around 10-20 with a few others not performing to expectations this season, also kicked a goal
3. 9 points, Nick Watson, playing midfield, sneaking forw and playing the last quarter in defence, quick and good at linking up play, not as dynamic against mature opposition, but a hard worker and quick, also kicked a goal
4. 8 points, Colby McKercher, played well on the inside and outside, he made a difference when he came on and gave the Academy run and carry as well as generally good disposal
5. 7 points, Darcy Wilson, mixed disposal, linked up with some clever handballs after wayward kicking, found space on the wing and got used a lot out of defence, not sure if smart play or Josh Sinn giving him too much room, but was good, in the Coates League he is more a goal kicker so showed some wing potential in this game.

Other players who I thought had decent games

Jack Delean - wing and forw
Riley Hardeman - wing and hbf
Archie Roberts - mostly hbf
Ryley Sanders - inside mid
Connor O'Sullivan - chb
Nathan Philactides - hbf
Cooper Simpson - mid
George Stevens - kpd
Koltyn Tholstrup - forw
Daniel Curtin - kpd
Will Patton - kpd
Jed Walter - kpf
Mitch Edwards - ruck
Nate Caddy - kpf
Archer Reid - only played 4th quarter or was only in the play in the 4th qtr - kpf

Players that I thought didn't perform as well, some will drop down my rankings

Jack Callinan, Caiden Cleary, Orlando Turner, Lachlan Cabor, Zane Duursma, Will Lorenz, Kane McAuliffe, Ashton Moir, Will Green, Ethan Read.

I think games like these expose these kids to pressures they don't usually face, to see some of them prosper and others faulter is a good indication of what the future may hold for each player when they move up in leagues.
Just watched replay agree had and top 5. Thought philactides good although not a need for us. I also liked McAuliffe and Lorenz seemed to play a lot forward I expected him on a wing. Thought Curtin started well then didn’t see him and A. Reid as you say only played last quarter in tough conditions so need to see more. If we took 3 players from that game it’s your top 3 which doesn’t solve our KP issues unless we plan to play Harley one out Darren Jarman style!

If we're looking for a KPF then we would have to put more work into guys like Archer Reid or Daniel Curtin to see if they are what we want or not I would think.

I think reid would do nicely for the eagles, our midfield is still an issue
Trading down for multiple first rounders definitely wouldnt be surprising tho
A big issue could be the go home factor tho which seems to becoming something non Victorian sides really have to take into account lately. That could play a part if reid indicates he wants to stay in vic

Where do you have luker kentfield mate? See he played league yesterday.

Also don’t tell too many clubs about clay hall, hoping he gets to freo first pick

Clay Hall I have talked about a lot over the last 12 months, good accumulator and talented mid with good traits, I see he got 27 possies in his latest WAFL game so developing nicely, also won a wafl colts premiership and looked good in wa black v wa gold intrastate game last year (and the colts finals series and gf as well as a couple other games I saw him play), he is building quite a resume and is 190cm now

Luker Kentfield I saw a few times last year, he kept kicking bags of 3 goals in big games so that caught my attention, last year I remember he looked like a taller Koltyn Tholstrup from afar, good on the lead and a good kick at goal, got his debut in the WAFL, I want to see more of him to make a better read, but from what I've seen there's something there
