True.

I think this is the most disappointing thing about the Swans. Its website lags or does not update in a timely manner. A player's profile would be about 30 seconds worth of time for a site admin. It is so simple to do these simple things and yet it doesn't. It is just disappointing. Hence we all seek information elsewhere. The Swans website is about 12 months behind. You would never go there for current information.
Even more disappointing is if you read the blurbs for the draftees. It will seem disturbingly familiar.
If you go to.the AFLW players you get a link to the men.
It's a terrible effort. Really terrible.

Went to the club site to see if they had added the new guys yet.
Two interesting things:
1) Francis is designated as a KEY_FORWARD. 🤔🤔🤔
2) Sheather's blurb had disappeared. He had been designated as a MEDIUM_FORWARD. I assume it's being rewritten?

Interesting about Francis. I was sure I had heard KB talking about how we recruited him because we want him to play defence. I did a quick search and, without listening to any podcasts I found this quote from KB about Frang: “He would complement what we’ve got down there with Paddy, Tommy McCartin and Dane, it allows us a bit more flexibility down there, that’s the main aim of it.” However there are other quotes from Charlie Gardiner highlighting Francis' versatility. Maybe we'll play Frang up forward in the VFL but I would hope we don't need to do it at AFL level if that's not what we recruited him for.

Looking at the probable VFL team when everyone is available I see it as more likely that the tall backs are Gould, Melican, Francis and Edwards and the tall forwards McLean, Amartey with cameos from Ladhams (while the young'uns ruck), McAndrew and Owen.
Balanced in terms of minutes.
Francis could definitely go forward if McLean or Amartey got called up.

According to Longmire & Beatson definitely recruited as a back;

Horse;
“We felt like we needed some support down back so we recruited him as a defender,” Longmire said on SEN’s Sportsday.
“We know he can play either end. He’s a high talent, obviously.
“He’s got some things to work on, as all players do, but we feel like he’s going to be able to give us a real opportunity to be able to play down back.
“Whether it’s intercept marking or being able to use it on the way out, we feel like he can give us a real asset down back.”

Beatson;
We watched Francis from halfway through the year.
He plays his best footy in defence, good athleticism, can intercept mark. Something we were looking for.

My view is we let him settle in defence whichever level he plays at.
We recruited him as a defender so at least give him the chance to develop and gain confidence in that position.

What the ****?

I thought you guys recruited Aaron Francis from us, not Andrew Phillips.

From his draft year

Clearly rated very highly in his draft year

Well yeah he went 6th (albeit wasn't the first KPD selected) and went ahead of other KPP's Weidemann, McKay, Curnow, Hipwood, Himmelberg, Doedee, Burton, and the other McKay

Maybe we get him to take Rampe role once he is up to speed and Rampe takes a half quarter master role like Goddard use to

I remember few years back their was talk to move Rampe to middle field

We could move Rampe to a defensive Half back role

Given the current backline, does he come in barring injuries?
Don't think so unless someone drastically loses form. I'd have Fox next in line to come in and then either Gould or Francis depending on who might be injured

Congrats on your debut Aaron. Well done.

Also noteworthy he has been a goal kicking fwd in the VFL so far this season.
He did play in defence in the Brisbane scratch match. Looked OK but still finding his way. He's very skilful but not as physical as Tom Mac. Hope he has a great debut.

Great to see him crack the senior side and hoping he reaches his potential. Guy can seriously play but life and his body haven’t always allowed him to shine.
not to mention that his 1st year was when the coach and players were banned for taking drugs.. and..
The bombers have been a complete rabble ever since

Thought hes looked good in the minimal minutes I've watched him in the VFL.. Good luck to him (has had Zero luck so far in his career)

He certainly came to the club in a very unstable time, same as Parish, Langford, Laverde who have only come good in the last few years. I think the swans environment will be the change of scenery he needed and really hope he succeeds. Fingers and toes crossed for Franga and the swans that he kicks ass and takes names for a bargain trade price.

Fair play to you craffles, getting serious Teddy Richard vibes on the man and player, think he has a lot to offer
