Someone may know something different but I thought a Hammy Strain was just another way of saying minor tear.

Strain: Muscle or tendon injury

A strain is the overstretching or tearing of a muscle or tendon, which are the fibers that connect the muscles to the bones. They can occur from a single incident or from repetitive movements over the long term. “An acute strain is an instantaneous stretch or tear of the muscle or tendon;” Mufich said, “whereas, a chronic strain stems from repetitive motions over time that place stress on the muscle or tendon.”

Tear: Ligament, muscle or tendon injury

Tears are the ripping of fibrous tissue that can occur in the ligaments, muscles or tendons from similar activities that cause fibers to overstretch, but the diagnosis is more serious and muscle and tendon tears could take multiple months to heal. “Typically, the worse a tear, the more inflammation and pain a person will experience, and the longer it will take for the injury to heal,” Mufich said. Non-surgical rehabilitation is often sufficient. However, some tears may require surgery to repair, such as those to the anterior cruciate ligament, or ACL.

Slight differences from what different sources on Google suggest.

Correct. Actually really annoys me that media use the word strain as we have people come into clinic saying I think it's just a strain and not a tear, but it's the same thing. Think of it as just a grade 1 tear. Grading referring to the amount of fibres actually disrupted.

Vdubs could probably add some knowledge here
Go Catters

In my day, I used to pull my hamstring.

Going to be a tricky period to navigate with Dangerfield and Guthrie absent from the midfield.
This is where Chris Scott earns his paycheque; has to manufacture wins over the next couple of weeks with a midfield skeleton crew and key players missing all over the field.
Not easy.

I still kind of like this potential midfield group:

Blicavs
Holmes
Atkins
Smith
Bruhn
Duncan
Parfitt?

What's a strain as opposed to a tear?
Tears of muscle-tendons are graded as 1, 2, 3
1 is least severe, and regarded as a strain.
3 is most severe, significant disruption of fibres
Tendons join muscle to a bone

Tears of ligaments are sprains. They are also graded 1, 2, 3.
Ligaments connect bones to bones, classic lateral ligament tears of ankle, medial ligament tears of knee etc.

I don’t mind it either, but it’s definitely about to face a stern test or two.

Feel like Mitch Duncan is only just going at the moment too; if he looked fitter I’d feel more confident.

I agree that's not a terrible group. But we clearly wouldn't want any others to go down or it starts to get very thin indeed.
I believe we (or maybe it was someone else) had the conversation about futility of "if we get even more injuries..." discussions but then we lost Dangerfield so I don't want to incur any more wrath.

I'm hoping the "if" Gods are on our side for this game.

I'd love for Bruhn to have a breakout game or Parfitt to find his old self though, for instance. I have faith in most of the core continuing to play well.

Wonder if we see Clohesy or Clark get a run to help bolster the midfield numbers.

Plus noticed a few centre bounces against Adelaide Close and Miers went in there too. Wonder if Simpson rotates in there more.
Too many rookies though given Dempsey might start, too. Like we're doing well with rookies but I think we need some experience.

Surely Parfitt can step up in this situation.

Not for Dangerfield, but in the world of non professional sport - is the turnover between minor strains ever 2 weeks? Before running etc. I mean I guess giving relevance to Danger this might be when he starts doing things again but not playing.
