Multiplat AFL 23: Launch Thread (Xbox release date TBC)

STATE OF PLAY:

• The game is out for Steam and PlayStation. There have been issues with Xbox release and it is unclear when the game will be available.
• Big Ant are aware that there are playability issues & bugs at present.
• Content has been temporarily removed from the game to identify where the issues lie.
• This content will be re-introduced via patches in the coming days.
• Big Ant have released a summary of what is to be reintroduced, which can be seen below.

I'm sitting 3rd in my season as the Hawks. For all of my crowing about how easy the difficulty is, when I get pumped..... I GET PUMPED lol.

Worst loss was last night against the Saints, after the 1st quarter where I was barely staying in touch. They just destroyed me in Q2 and Q3. Must have felt sorry for me as I mounted a comeback in the last quarter, to only go down by 3 goals.

Melbourne was similar, got torched throughout the game. But cane back hard in the final quarter with 6 goals to 1. Almost drew but the siren went before I could mark it.

Just played Round 1 vs Essendon, let's just say I wasn't able to reverse the outcome of the previous praccy match.. ha ha

I've been fairly critical of this game from before it even launched. There were already some messy bits. But it's a pretty safe bet that the game will get good. The current game vs the initial launch is a massive improvement and patches are coming in daily. If I didn't own it, knowing what I know now, I'd still buy it at the moment. It's fun, it's just frustrating as well. It's probably just overtaken AFL Evolution 2 for me in the last day or 2 as the best AFL game we've got available to us.
But History of Big Ant and AFL games says you might save 25% in a few months

That is pretty much the opposite of our historical pricing.

No, I believe that you hadn't completed the game so have decided to start trying to do that after its delayed release date.

Which at this point sounds like the only explanation as to why there are many things that were promised prior to release that are still not even in the game now 1.5 months after initial release date.

Ps. Showing that Fifa also has patches doesn't help your case. The game (FIFA) works after a patch has been made, it doesn't sort one problem out just to make another problem appear.

Well it does matter if you're tossing up on whether you want all the bugs or all the features.

BigAntStudios will custom teams be able to be played as in management mode?

I feel like it won’t be canned, but if they are going to get the benefits out of it they really want (micro transactions) they will have to make sure the gameplay is

Noones going to dump money on micro transactions if the gameplay still isn’t amazing.

Once we bed the game down and bring all of the modes in over the next few days, we'll focus on launching Pro Team.

Is state leagues coming before pro team? Also are ps4/5 getting a patch tonight? Or is it the weekends plus tonight’s tomorrow morning early?

FIFA broke their game with a patch, but we didn't.

Launch party was CGI.

Streamers after launch were paid off, and CGI.

We made the game we have now in the last month.

Why are the games so easy now? Every difficulty is unbelievably easy all of a sudden. I even deliberately try to miss goals but they still seem to magically go in from set shot even on hardest. I once aimed at the boundary from 30m out straight in front drop punt and it somehow curved back to kick a goal despite there being no wind and perfect timing and power. It's starting to get boring smashing teams by 150+ every game on management or just any game mode.
No anger or hate to you, i really like the game but it went from no difficulty to unbelievably difficult and back to no difficulty again.

Tomorrow’s patch on consoles will be everything from the weekend and tonight.

Well it does matter if you're tossing up on whether you want all the bugs or all the features.

It’s an interesting situation that’s for sure. The only alternative is Evo 2 which is 3 years old and plays like crap - those of us desperate enough for an AFL game just made our own fun in it. There’s no eFootball to go to - it’s this, a worse older / outdated alternative, or nothing. The old play this and ride it out, resort to Evo 2 or just play other games for the next 1-2 years seem to be the only options for those on the fence

Yeah should do - Saturday/Sunday and tonight’s Steam patches should come to us on PS5 at about 2am again unless BA submit it earlier in the afternoon

We will submit around 6pm, it then may take between 2 - 8 hours based on the average turnaround over the past week or so.
