With the Eagles suffering a 116 point loss to Hawthorn on the weekend and the footy media in Perth saying it's their lowest point in club history, what is your club's lowest point?

Mine was 2020 offseason-early 2021. The fire sale, Eddie resigns, losing Treloar, Stevo etc. Wasn't a good time for us at all.

I would have thought the lowest point for the pies was when the club president assaulted a stripper and paying overs for the underperforming Geoff Hayward

dark days there for a while

Not when your then president said that Aboriginal players were ok as long as they did what they were told?

But the tank to then get N Daicos probably made it all worth it.

Spoiled for choice at Freo. 2001 wins it, 17 game losing streak to start the season to end 2-20, we were competitive at times, even worse was the off season where we were found to be over the salary cap and then Fabian Francis who we promised to draft in the pre-season had to take us to court to get his money as we were banned from the draft. We turned it around 2002 to win 9 games then 14 in 2003 to make the finals.

2008-09 were disappointing years but the expectation was low anyway. The 1 goal game against the Crows was in that period, we were suffering some injuries but it was obviously still horrible stuff.

2016 was awful too, a lot of expectation but we started 0-10, scraped 4 wins together before 4-5 years of 7-9 wins before a step up last year.

Things can turn in a couple of drafts/trade periods or a good run of injury, a lucky fixture early on as well can build confidence.

Definitely was.

I wasn't born yet so I'm going to give a special mention to the 2014 off-season.

Coach sacked, CEO quit, captain requested a trade, brownlow medallist left, plus more. Turned out well in the end though, but definitely a dark time
The Peter Rohde years were pretty dire too.

Pretty obvious for the Crows

After the disastrous 2017 grand final we imploded. A series of failures including the infamous camp and trading in of Bryce Gibbs led to us sacking our coach, senior assistant, most other assistants, head of football, head of fitness, CEO and chairman, culminating in us finishing last for the first time ever

I looked this up for another thread. Seems a good place to put it! West Coast still got a ways to match some other teams.

Longest streak without finals (AFL era - 1990 on)

Gold Coast 12 (2011-2012)
Melbourne 11 (2007-2017)
Richmond 11 (2002-2012)
Brisbane 9 (2010-18)
Carlton 9 (2014-22)
Fremantle 8 (1995-02)
St Kilda 8 (2012-19)
Collingwood 7 (1995-02)
North 6 (2017-2022)
Sydney 6 (1990-1995)
Adelaide 5 (2018-22)
Hawthorn 5 (2002-06)
Port 5 (2007-2012)
Dogs 5 (2001-05)
Essendon 4 (2005-08)
GWS 4 (2012-2015)
Geelong 3 (2001-03)
West Coast 3 (2008-2010)

You lucky bastards. What WC fans wouldn't give for that sort of an off season.
Things dreams are made of.
