Agree, but will be very hard to find because they are rare and in demand by every Club.
If Hardwick quits, he has terminated the contract and doesn't get paid. If the club holds him to the contract, they have to pay him. That's big $$$ down the drain to hold a coach who doesn't want to be there, for 2.5 more years. Surely it's better from the club's point of view to begin the process of finding a new coach now.

Voss --- great player --- was not the Coach for Brisbane and is not the man to get the best out of Carlton. Great players do not always make great coaches.
I thought after Freo poached Lyon from Saint Kilda the AFLCA agreed to non compete type clauses for the contracted term.

From what I've read, no-compete clauses can be very difficult to enforce. Especially when the person has quit and is not being paid. It can be done at the higher / executive levels more so than at the lower levels, and the higher level is surely where a coach sits; but as I said, difficult to enforce. Especially, perhaps, when "coaching an AFL club" is ruled out.
Yes, it stands out when you look at that number. Possibly a career coach would be up for taking over another team, but not so much if they're starting at or near the botttom. A contender or near-contender, maybe. Depends on what Hardwick feels about "the challenge". I don't know how many coaches have gone on for more than 13 years, even at different clubs.

I don't know if they can sustain what they're doing now --- could they have peaked too early? --- but if they can they're serious Flag contenders. The Crows are not.
Since we beat them in Round 3 both teams have gone very differently. We're 4-3 (1-3 in our last 4) and they're 7-zip.

If Hardwick is indeed "burned out", then rebuilding one is off the landscape for him, which definitely rules out North and Eagles.
He moved to the bench so that he could cheerlead with his players when they won.
The next month will be telling for Carlton, not inconceivable they could lose their next three and lead to Voss being sacked.
This is all setting up beautifully for Hinkley.
