Mixed reports, sounds like Matheson lost it at the players. If thats true, then the wrong board member exited. Its about time the players werent cuddled anymore, they are a big part of the problem-> as unprofessional as the "look" may be...

From a PWC perspective, is Italy the new Majorca?

From a Carlton perspective, shouldnt the Carlton president be in Melbourne getting control of our malaise? Right now?

You want unprofessionalism, and bad optics, here it is.

A far bigger issue than Matheson... i am happy to see go regardless...

I thought Sayers was looking forward to seeing us all at the G on Friday night lol

The day that Tom Elliot gets on the board at the club is the day I cancel my membership. I do not want him anywhere near the club. He would claim to be a uniting figure, but in reality he would tear the club apart going after everyone who was "mean" to his dad after his dad dropped us right in the s**t.
You got any evidence of his intentions, or just guessing?

Explain to me the role he played in the salary cap issues, or his fathers business dealings?

Any first hand relationships or connections with him?

Did you know the club use him to host game day functions and other things? Couldnt be that devisive or a threat, if the club use him?

Maybe just the "name" is your issue.

So I am clear, Elliots time for a board role has passed. He was warned of it during the Bolton era.

We need a fresh set of people.

A colleague/mentor of mine worked on the Tigers off-field restructure at the time and is still much loved at the club and close to Brendan Gale. The correlation between Finance, Board level and Football good practice is pretty strong in his opinion (and mine FWIW) and the collective all working towards the same goal. Investments are made in the right areas, organisational blockers and obstructions are removed, and efficiencies are made.

The correlation vs causation arguments may persist with us folks outside of the bubble but that club's view is that when they sorted out the off-field politics their performances onfield picked up.

So who changed at board level at the Tigers end of 2016 to start of 2017?

The only discernible legacy of President Log was to destroy the democratic process re. our board.

He assured us he wouldn't be immediately did abuse this system (three years ago) and it will happen again now. The change to our constitution to create a 3 person nominations committee should have been voted on in isolation by the members. It wasn't because the Log is shifty as a sh!thouse rat and he packaged it up with other changes. He tried the same trick again last year to extend the maximum tenure of board members but Sayers walked away from it at the last minute.
Sayers put forward that change, and Sayers walked away from it, to avoid an EGM.

Obviously your rapt with the way things are being managed at the club to post that image.

Comparisons are to Richmond pre premiership are so wrong. Who do we have of the ilk of Brendan Gale?

You are still missing the point JP, like most supporters

Tiger supporters wanted blood at the end of 2016, board, coaching, fitness, players, et, etc.

Nothing changed at board level in terms of people (I could be wrong)

The changes have started at board level, but that isn't the key to change our onfield output, not ours, not any club

My inital thought when I read Sayers email last week was that this quote wouldn't age well. But I am going to take another wild guess at why he said it, and why he's doubled down on it today.

I guess that the board has known for some time that there's not a single assistant coach at our club that is ready to be a senior coach, even in caretaker capacity. I guess that our assistant coaching group has never been considered for a senior coaching role elsewhere. I guess that none are rated highly externally. And I think that sacking Voss to appoint any of them would arguably leave us in worst shape in the short-term. I think this makes it pretty easy to double down on Voss when you've got no other choice.

In another wild guess, 2023 is a complete write-off. I suspect the board has known it for awhile. Now we all know what wild guesses I make. Let's just hope that change is coming when it's the right time, as assessed by the people who actuallt know like Brian Cook.

Fixed it for you!

Italy to Majorca is only a short private flight or 2 day sail.
Given how much shit they are in it’s not that far from reality. I can’t believe he hasn’t stepped down.
9 PWC partners stood down today & it’s a hell of a stretch to believe the man at the top knew nothing about it.

Good. Remove the toxic power brokers that have hampered the club for years. Sick to death of their quasi private ownership of the club.
Best thing his stupid Uncle could have done was launch that tirade, once he did, he and Craig were done at our club whether or not there was a confrontation on Friday night in the rooms. As far as Im concerned, the last of the toxic influencers is gone for good.

Sure board members don’t kick for goal or handpass to a hot or drop a mark or make a poor decision on field . A stable board is a priority though. It does filter down. The playground for the rich is impacting all forms of society. The AFL and Carlton are no exceptions in my opinion. Boys Club.

I guess that you are having a bit of a joke in forgetting the obvious but our current CEO Brian Cook has been In charge at club level for five premierships (2 at West coast and 3 at Geelong) whilst Brendan Gale has three to his name.

Does that qualify as "ilk"?

Not sure how the tigers comparisons make sense, they at the point of the board challenge had winning seasons and had played in finals.

We currently can't make finals with the list loaded for a final and then premiership assault.

With the crap going on at PwC I am not sure how Luke Sayers can stay on as President. Any credibility he had is now shot & the fact that an organisation he was CEO of deliberately went out of it's way to fraud everyday Australian citizens is a f**king disgrace.

There is no way in hell he didn't know what was going on; we can only hope this holiday to Italy is a ruse to skip the country & never return.

I come in peace first of all, I haven't read this thread but I want to gather the overall feelings of your supporters when it comes to this, personally I think Mathieson (disregarding his profile in the club) was completely within his right to challenge the president maybe wrong place wrong time but the fact that he's left whilst being vocally challenging what's going on at carlton imo as a opposition supporter sparks red flags in regards to sayers, not trying to have a go at anyone here or the club in general just trying to have a discussion from my pov, apologies if I've offended any die hards, and for everyone melting down Collingwood was the laughing stock of the afl in 2021, your list is more talented then most you guys are closer then you alot of people will give you credit imo

Do you remember that thread on the Tigers board in 2016?

Similar unrest currently on the WC board and they won a flag 5 years ago

Funny that you think our current administration In anyway resembles the ONeal/Gale administration or that we’ve been anywhere near it for 30 years.

Please don’t come in here and tell us our list is loaded for finals. Haven’t you been paying attention ...... trade, trade, delist, delist and draft, draft picks = rebuild. It’s what we do and have for 20 years.

Isn't it only an internal investigation being run by PWC at present? If so I wouldn't think he'd be bound to stay in the country let alone step down from anything particularly since he doesn't even work there any more.

Yeah but unfortunately, Cook didn't arrive until about 6 days before we signed Voss...

He didn't have any involvement with the review either. We signed him for 3 years, he's half way through and at his age, it's hard to know if he has the energy and motivation to keep going and make the required changes.

We have a 5 year plan that will extend past the tenures of the people who created it... if it doesn't work out, the heat will be off them and on whoever is at the club at the end of it.

But it's ok, they'll bring in a shiny new plan that will definitely work!
