His management announced before the season started that he would delay any contract talks.
There has to be a reason that we are maybe not aware of.
Money is only thing that seems to make sense of him wanting to leave.
It is pretty disappointing that he is not committing and may leave.

Alternatively it is pretty pleasing that he has not indicated that he is going and may well stay?

I don't think Ash is just a hbf, that's where he's found a spot at the Giants. Think he could swing through midfield / wing if needed . We could do a lot worse, though not sure how we'd pick up the tab.

lf you are heavily chasing a player like Geelong are they clearly value him, as said the most likely outcome would be a 1st rounder to us and a f2 or f3 going back.

We don't have a 3rd currently....although it looks likely there's others like Dow, Fish and JSOS maybe looking to move on, so I daresay we'll be improving our draft/trade hand.

Some players want to get the runs on the board to see where they fit or fire up into some form $$$.

Quite the decision to turn down the prospective big offers and the discrepancy on earning potential being weighed up.

Dylan Williams be a better pick up than Ash imo and would be free as a DFA. Piercing kick who kicks flat and long. Has yet to play up forward where he produced his most damaging football as a junior.

Pretty sure TDK is playing 1st ruck next year, whoever is offering that opportunity is where he'll be.(it's not about the money)
Probably too late, but that's where we should be playing him. Within 18 months he'll be well in front of Pitto as a marking, goal scoring ruckman.(and a lot less injury prone)

Definitely a quality rebound defender
Can play wing and has the ability to shift into the midfield long term

I know where your coming from…
As far as a DFA he’d be a good pick up, has the forward smarts too, but Ash is a far superior player I’d hand over our first in a heartbeat this year for him..

We need to look at this draft/trade period and address our most areas of need, which is clearly a mid sized forward that will give us a more rounded forward structure & quickness through the midfield.
We won't give up our 1st pick, we will look to strengthen our draft hand, potential free agents would be considered, l don't see Ash being a priority.
