Ruck hitouts are the most useless sat in teh game, completely irrelevant, it was teh ruck does around the ground , taking interept, forward chain marks, F50 marks, D50 marks etc .. Max Gawn demonstarted that on Friday
If they were decent tap ruckmen, shoving the ball down the throat of the rover/centreman, it would set up an effective clearance and scoring opportunity.

If Cameron is right to go we need to get him in. The more games our best 22 can play together at this point of the season, the better.

I don't disagree, he's just no guarantee so i think they'll err on the side of caution. Cameron and Cox is our best set up.

If he's fit then it's:

In - Checkers, Cameron, Mitchell
Out - Frampton, Johnson, Lippa (sub)

AJ is stiff as a board but the reality is, it's he or Cox for that final spot. You can bet there will be player management galore going on so we may not see any really hard calls until the final round or 2. Frampton also unlucky, if Dixon was fit and firing then i'd want him in for that matchup. However, Dixon is moving like a 90 year old so Moore will do a number on him and run off him all night.

On another note, how bloody good is Markov, has literally smashed the door in to become best 22 and a vital cog in the best side in the comp. Stuff of fairytale's is the people's mo.

As this week is very tough to work out, I'll go with what I want and what I think.

What I want:

In: Mihocek, Cameron
Out: Cox (unlucky, but form has been a bit down lately), Maynard (inj/managed)

Between McStay and AJ, we have a chop out ruck for Cameron so Cox is surplus and I feel Frampton needs to start playing back leading into finals. He beat Dixon in Round 2 and we need him doing that again. Moore can then take Marshall out which leaves Howe to become the interceptor.

What I think:

In: Mihocek, Cameron
Out: Frampton, Maynard (inj)

Just feels like the coaching group and selection committee don't see Frampton as the second tall back we recruited him to be and it's incredibly frustrating to me.

Bruz said pre game on MMM that he has 'hyper mobile' shoulders. Essentially they can dislocate and relocate more easily than normal. This causes impingement but settles rather quickly as well. He's a genuine maniac though so i can't see it keeping him out of the side over the next few weeks. Once top 2 is sown up then he is someone you'd put on ice and give a decent freshen up heading into the first final.

Stiff is an understatement. 3 goals v doggies last week & 3 more against Freo. I think he keeps his spot.

Also the Rohan matchup was Murphy, not like adding Frampton changes that. He's not really part of the argument.

Cameron was playing too far up the ground for Moore to play on him. It would have been great for Geelong to draw Moore out. Frampton's a terrible match-up for Cameron, smaller players have had more success against him. He's just very good, sometimes good players will play well. Frampton wouldn't have helped in the Geelong game.

The better argument for needing another tall is the Sydney final. It's the game that convinced me, though no longer as convinced. Reid and Franklin were causing real issues. If Reid didn't get injured we might not have got close.

I do believe we could use another key defender, even if mainly for Moore insurance during a game, but we might need someone more mobile than Frampton. Our defence is going great right now, both defending (#1) and generating scores (#1). Feel we'll back ourselves in to not get dominated for long enough for tall forwards to be a major issue (only time it really becomes a problem). Has worked so far. Not even sure Frampton is going to stop goals when our mids are being smashed anyway, he's not that great 1v1. Any team is vulnerable to clean ball movement no matter how tall and good their defenders are.

Why are we so obsessed about the Cats.

They'll be so cooked if we happen to come across them in September. It'll be 2010 all over again.

Think I have had that same issue. Dislocated a shoulder 3 times as a kid. It would semi dislocate and then go back in several times. Caused me a lot of chronic pain. Incidentally what fixed it for me was building more strength in the muscles around the area. Bruzzy already has that covered though.

No one is getting dropped based on performance from last week.. a niggle or minor injury, yes. And selection should be based on horses for courses. If all Port tall forwards play, they may want to keep Frampton in, but if the knock he copped in the last qtr is causing him problems, he may sit this one out.

Only definite at this stage will be Checkers in.

Footy really is fickle sometimes. Port have just won like 13 games in a row, took Carlton to lightly expecting to win and now the walls have fallen off after 1 loss and it’s sack Hinkley again.

It's all about when you play a team.

Carlton could not have been kissed on the dick any better. Port at home going half rat power.

The good thing is, they'll be no healthier this week. Butters looks cooked.

It's a real statement game time for us on Saturday night. Imagine 2 x 10 goal floggings of the no.2 seed.

Same here. Genuine X factor, a tad one trick pony, but it's a good trick.

Outside of dropping Cox, i just can't see how AJ get's in the side. The coaches seemingly want DC as the no.1 ruck. Plus, we need Hill and McCreery causing carnage at ground level, along with Adams and Elliott.

Yeah he's built like a brick shithouse. He also works with his own SnC coach on his days off as well.

Here’s the problem I have.

Many of us are aware Frampton needs to play key back.

Clearly our coaching panel don’t. Otherwise they would have been playing him there to get settled and develop synchronicity with his team mates back there.

I'm not so sure about that. I think the bigger question for coaches and selectors is what the D50 7 looks like and can we include all of Moore, Howe, Murphy and Frampton.

So, I’m off to Europe for 60 days with the Mrs.

I leave on 31 July and will be back the day before the grand final.

I’m hoping to have a great trip and come back to the Pies winning the grand final.

First time in a decade that’ll I’ll voluntarily missing Victorian Pies games!

If we win the premiership, I’ll be over the moon.

If we don’t make it through the finals, I’ll be drowning my sorrows in Florence,Naples or Nice!

I won’t be able to keep up to date with all the footy news! So please tag me if something important happens! Please!

I'll be missing the entire final series!! I leave for Europe on 7 September and dont return until early October. I think I'm in Frankfurt on Grand Final day.

Surely you should be booking holidays around the footy. Come on boys, do better.
I know!! It was a trip that was cancelled in 2020 because of the pandemic, and it was the only time we could get a guaranteed departure. Frankfurt is 8 hours behind, so it will be 6:30 in the morning when the Grand Final starts. Could be a big day!!

Just quietly, I'll be interested to see how Crisp goes this weekend.

He has been building the past few weeks and his game against Fremantle was one of his best for the year.

Almost unbelievable that our reigning Copeland winner has hardly been in our best 5 players all year so far. If he can keep building I've got no doubt we can go to another level.

Just so long as it’s not 2011. Or last year, when they were also supposed to be cooked. Underestimate the Cats at your peril.
