10 mins in first quarter against freo in rd 19...

watson laycock and ryder injured... grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

now only have mckinnon to play whole game in ruck...

and watson is my best... he has had about 6 BOGS

GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

Do you guys all do heavy training or something? I've had Bell injured for 4 weeks. McLean 3. Neitz 4. That's not bad, only 3 injuries in nearly a half of footy. None have been from training.

nah... my training is medium....

how many minute qrt's do you do.....im 10min

Strange, I do 10 Minute Quarters and I haven't had my Ruckman get injured yet, Simmo has played every game so far.

My only injuries from a match have been Polak who Fractured his Collarbone and Danny Meyer who done a Hammy, the other injuries I have had were from Training them too hard.

Training shouldn't effect injuries, I havn't even started Career mode yet, I just play Season. I'm currently up to Round 13, and I have about 8 of my best 22 out, including my 3 leading goal scorers.

In short: the most bug infested piece of crap ever. I returned it in 3 days. Read my review from a while ago. Save your money....

I have game...

I have Ps2....

Time for some hardcore gaming ;)

Just played my first match and boy was it a thriller...

Hurn had the chance to win the game with seconds remaining but hit the post with a snap...

OK have played the game a few times now. First impressions:

- easily the best AFL game ever. Anyone else that thinks otherwise is kidding themselves
- dynamic difficulty at this stage seems to work quite well
- the side on view thing has been executed well - playing from this view the game seems to have more atmosphere and be a bit more choatic, which is what we want from an AFL game
- the smothers thing...agree there's too many, but I'll happily cop this one the chin so that the gameplay is more congested and frantic. It can be an absolute riot in front of goal, just like the real thing
- instances of ruck to rover to full foward - goal - occur much much less. Happy with that as it was the number one thing that stopped 2006 being a great game

Some small negatives:
- the 20 metre punch thing - how did that one slip through? Happy that you can elect to tap for a more realistic experience, but still...
- sometimes when you go the hip and shoulder your player 'snaps' to about five metres away. Since the game is now more congested, this behaviour can be pretty frustrating. I think it may be an old bug that now just needs to be fixed up more than ever.

To the AFL PE lovers out there, sure it was a great title (for AFL) but imo the game was ruined by being too easy and their being no need whatsoever to aim for goal - at least that's how it was on PC. Take a mark, then read the newspaper while holding down the kick button. At least this title can make you sometimes feel under pressure in front of goal and give you a bit more of a challenge in general.

Back later with more 2c's when I've played some more games.

this is the best, but PE had the best brownlow system

2004 = disposals
2005,2006= WTF
2007 = good but had a major bug

PE= the best, forwards who kicked 6 goals + would normally get the 3 votes, followed by people with the 30 odd touches and marks ect

The best thing about it is it finally has stats that can you can see during the game, not just the breaks.

I finished work early today and I work in town so I popped into JB's and grabbed the game for 64 squids.

Just finished my first game vs Port in the NAB Cup.
First quarter was Crows 2 pts to Port 1 in a very wet night in Adelaide. Then I kicked away in the second term and led by 4 goals but Port clawed it back and dominated the 3rd term, I kicked my only goal on the siren. Last term Port got out to an 11 point lead, I got back in front and led by 7 points when I missed a gettable goal. Once again Port came back and got in front by 5 points but then Welsh kicked a scrappy goal in the square to put the Crows up by a point and then Huddo won the ruck, ended up with Burton and then siren went.. he kicked the goal. Very exciting game.

It does seem a lot better than last year, and 06 was a massive improvement. Handballs hit targets much more easily, just like PES you can find a man without the ball bobbling in front or behind him all the time. The team setup is awesome, it's just like you see in the Friday paper!

Holding the ball did seem pretty damn hot at times, I played 5 minute quarters. When I was under the pump, Massie pulled off a great smother, gathered the ball and was immediately tackled on the 50m line for Port.. pinged. That was pretty damn frustrating. Early in the game I got a few frees from the centre ball up and I thought it was going to be like last year but in the second half there were none which was very relieving.

edit: after reading a post above me regarding the camera.. side on works very well and when you take a mark or get a free you can see up field, I reckon in 05 (maybe?) it had that but then it was pretty slow to get back into the game.. this time around it's very quick and you don't miss a beat. Very impressive. I could also hit men on leads a bit, the conditions made it tough as it should be and the kicking for goal was pretty even for both teams, it wasn't too easy to score and the opposition missed goals. I'm stoked so far.

is there any celebrations after winning the Grand Final? In PE theres just a picture of a cup.

Just tried my first go at Hard mode, I did one 20 min quarter against Essendon. By quarter time, some players had over 15 posessions and the score was 86-56. An 86 point first quarter on the hardest difficulty? I actually score less on Easy and Normal. :S

You will get those kind of scores if you play full halves or quarters in any sport game.
If you get 5-4 in 4 minute halves in Fifa 07, you would get 50-40 scores if you play the full game.

Well said DonMania. I have had games where it's been something like 6-2 in a 10 minute game.. so a 90 minute game would be ridiculous. If you had it totally realistic you would struggle to even score one goal in a reduced game.

Quick poll as I just got the game and others have played it more.

1. What is the best time for each quarter? 5 or 10?

2. Umpiring. Lenient, Moderate or Strict?

I just played by second game and beat Richmond by a few goals but never really looked like losing as they are rubbish. I had 19 frees to 9, they seemed to give away some easy frees which was annoying despite the fact I won them. Nathan Brown was BOG despite not featuring in Richmond's best players, he was 1st in the Rankings though.

i like 5 min quarters with moderate umps.

My last two games have been exciting, both narrow wins after trailing at some point in the last term. In the second of those, Harvey got 20odd possessions, 2 goals and was ranked in the 20-30s. *EDIT* Oh, and Birchall got BOG after coming on to ruck after Campbell got injured within the first 3 or so minutes, Birchall rucked the whole game and won a few hitouts, too.

Does anyone elses goal-posts go shiny at times?

I have been playing the same way dude, the holding the ball is hot at times though and I got way too many frees that last game.. maybe it's just because it was Richmond.. against Port it was pretty even. 10 minute quarters will probably be a bit better but it might take too long to complete a game. I might give it a whirl in the Semis and Final (if I make it) of the NAB Cup.
