I reckon some form of high-level draft assistance for North is all but a certainty now.

Because you lost game by 2 goals? How many did West Coast lose by?

West Coast should be getting pick one and two this year otherwise they'll look even worse soon.

They are in their second year of bottom 2 we are in our 4th

They are where we were 2 years ago when we got nothing

We are setting the precedent for them

They need 2 more years of shit to get what we are about to get

Thinking of you? We're worried about our pick sliding to accommodate the fact that your club can't tie its own bootlaces.
You continously post in threads about North Melbourne so yeah, you are thinking of us.

Yep, you got me, just can't stop thinking about that high quality game last week.

I will offer this advice to North fans, don't count your priority picks before they hatch. West Coast look bad enough to win the next two spoons, and the AFL will be hesitant to set precedents with Gold Coast faltering and Tassie on the horizon as well.

Didn't look like a side needing high level draft assistance to me. Got a host of top quality young talent evolving and yesterday played with heart for once.

West Coast being so much worse than North is the problem for the AFL, can't be giving lollies to North and ignoring clearly the worse team in the league.

Time to show some ticker North, not beg again for high end draft assistance via waiving dodgy NGA rules. There's already plenty of talent on the North list.

Losing margins is irrelevant. It's about total wins/losses.

You've won twice as many games as West Coast this year. So Eagles they DEFINITELY need pick 1 and 2.

It's also not about a single season in isolation but a sustained period of sub-par performance.

And you know this. Stop being deliberately obtuse.

Ok then, who won more games in the last two years, North or the Eagles?

Showed their hand yesterday to go within a kick late of a top 8 side, not far off the pace with plenty of upside once Clarko is back.
Dont need it now.

I'd straight up move Westcoast second pick to 17 and North to 18 pushing the first pick for the runners up back to 19 and premier to 20. Westcoast and north then start the second round. Gives them both 3 picks inside 22. (this does not consider any changes to the order clubs have made)

After the initial Tassie entry drafts I'd then change the draft.
19th gets 1, 10 and 20
18th gets 2, 12, 24
17th 3, 15, 27
16th 4, 17, 30
15th 5, 19, 34
14th 6, 21, 44
13th 7, 23, 45
12th 8, 25, 46
11th 9, 28, 47
10th 11, 31, 48
9th 13, 35, 49
8th 14, 36, 50
7th 16, 37, 51
6th 18, 38, 52
5th 22, 39, 53
4th 26, 40, 54
3rd 29, 41, 55
2nd 32, 42, 56
1st 33, 43, 57

4th round in order as normal.

The nature of our game is complex via the draft system.
In US sports most draftees are around 22 and ready to play a senior role. NBA a 22 year old can make a big difference as one of 5. NFL positions are specialist so even a pick in the 20's might land you the best available for that role.
AFL tends to draft best available and in most cases it's a two-year wait to see if they make a difference.

While I'm at it, FS's rated likely draft number range by U18 state coaches and cost more points in the top 10. Same with academies.
Free agents no longer draft compensation but cost points from the club they go to and they are forwarded to the club they came from.
Clubs can use points to move up in the draft or bank for future drafts.

The jungle drums are beating from the media that the Sanders prelisting is a good chance of happening.

Quite right considering the leg up academies get every year and the GC assistant package all clubs signed off on a few years ago.

Just about every year of our rebuild the top end of the draft has been compromised.

The McKay compo is separate and available to any club, but I'm sure people will still complain about that when it comes through.

Also for what it's worth there are many NMFC supporters (myself included) who would strongly prefer to keep McKay if we can make it happen.

Plenty of nuffies on here will somehow paint North losing their best defender to a rival club for $800k a season as a priority pick.

My expectation is that McKay will go as a FA giving the AFL the opportunity to launder a first round pick for North rather than outright giving them a pp.

Similar to how Melbourne got pick 3 for James Frawley in 2014.

But with all the academy players and father/son picks the draft is becoming incredibly compromised now. Difficult for clubs at the bottom to pull themselves out of the muck when so much of the top talent is retained by teams through those programs.

Are they? Where?

Or are you making this up just as you did the last time you posted it? In fact last time you posted that the ruling was in…yet now only a “good chance of happening”. What’s changed?

Check Marc McGowan's recent articles.

I'm not going to dig them out for you if you are uninformed.

And the ruling is in, regarding Sanders eligibility, which was borderline racism by the AFL in the first place......

Why should north have access to sanders though?
Hawks have put far more work into grassroots level in tassie than North over a longer period of time.

Richmond and stkilda have done a lot of work too.

Uninformed because I don’t read everything Marc McGowan writes? 🤣

Which was it, by the way? Done deal or a good chance?

Because it's our NGA zone? Our only zone (unless you consider the Melbourne CBD a recruiting hotbed)

Because he's also been in our NGA sides since 12 years of age?

Been using our welfare officers since he moved to Melbourne Grammar.

Can we have Mitch Owens? We trained down at Mentone once.

Why did the Dogs get to take JUH with 4 picks in the 30's when we were placed to take him at #2 as the first Victorian side in the draft?

Why do Hawthorn get the entire east of the state?

How much have you contributed to Orbost recently?

Be careful saying this! There's a certain mod lurking around here who scoffs at such facts.

(You are 100% correct though).
