On SEN they said that he's lost the least one on ones in defence of any player over a long period. Perhaps not the worst idea but he's going to need an understudy developing behind him. Height is overrated, heaps of the best defenders give away height. Timing and being able to read the fall of the ball are much more important.

In some pretty good company when he does play.




Also wouldn't mind a look at Melican. UFA this year and remember him playing well against us.

I don't think you get it... We are clearly spread very thin in the midfield as is and we will be losing at least 2-3 of Bytel/Jones/Seb come years end.

You can't just replace them all with draftees as we will have no back up for the midfield again! You saw what happened earlier in the year when Steele went down and Jones was already injured.

I along with most here want us to just hit the draft and bring in as many young quality mids as possible, but you also need to recruit backups and mature, experienced bodies to help.

Because from what I see, and (obviously the coaches too) Bytel just isn’t good enough.
Jones (who I actually don’t mind as a point of difference) will have played a total of 30 games in 3 years out of a possible 67. That’s 44%

If Gresham goes, then that’s 3 possible mid rotations gone.

Unless we draft a Will Ashcroft/Nick Daicos/George Wardlaw then we can’t rely on a draftee playing mid minutes next year.

We need more mids. I don’t see what your point about list spots is? There’ll be plenty of list spots available and I don’t see any extreme need on our list except for mids! And maybe a good KPD. But that’s it.

Look at Carlton as an example. Was a good thing they had Dow on their list with injuries to Kennedy, Walsh and Cerra. Not only did he step up, but he was almost the difference in the 2nd half.

We need mids who can win contested footy and clearance! Matt Crouch is that guy.
Contrary to what people think we need which is speed, because as I’ve said before, we have enough speed, it just becomes redundant when we can’t win the footy. Where was the speed in Geelong’s premiership team besides Rohan?

Whether Crouch plays or is backup I don’t care, but I don’t see any other options out there besides maybe Parish and Flanders, but doubt they’d want to come to us anyway.

Max King has 128 goals from 68 games at 23 years of age… let’s not get rid of one of the very few proven goal scorers we already have and compound poor list decisions even more. We are wanting young talent, not to get rid of it.

Depends if we think we’re a serious chance of finals next year. I don’t so I’d be trading mature players and opening space for the kids, like Hawthorn have done.
