I was more a fan of the weatherwoman
This is almost close to getting this conversation banished to the dark parts of the North board, but I can never watch a weather report the same since

And here I was about to bring up the lingerie section in the big w catalogue…
I feel attacked.
We are all supporting each other here, no criticisms

This is why I'm ok with trading our future first for a top 10 pick this year.
We'll have enough mids after this year, use the bonus pick on a top key position player while they're available.
I kind of dismissed this initially, but for those who know how next year's draft is shaping up, how crazy would it be for us to do this?

North F1 for GC's Pick 5. (GC could get the points they need for Walter from Flanders being traded out.)

We could, for instance, lock in Curtin and O'Sullivan as our key defenders for the next decade, along with Sanders and Watson.

So how does Connor O'Sullivan compare as a prospect against Josh Smillie as the leading tall in next year's crop?

And, how irresistible are Finn O'Sullivan and Sid Draper as the leading midfield prospects?

Unless you’re Charlie Cameron at 183. Flyin’ Ryan at 179 as well.
Cameron & Ryan have exceptional all-round games... explosive, strong, great 1-on-1 and exceptional marks, even pack marks.
There is no way you are competing in the air (in the big league) at 170cm, let alone be exceptional at it.

I think ~180cm IS the yield point when your lack of height starts becoming a factor.

Take the pick now and run.
An extra year of development into our kids will be huge and we've got enough mids anyway.

It is an interesting idea, I certainly don't know enough to even pretend to be able to compare this year's top prospects with next year's, but taking next year's first round pick a year early and getting a year ahead on development is appealing. There is the possibility to trade our future first again next year to get into the first round and if (and we all hope it is the way things happen) we slowly improve over the next few years, we might actually do well repeatedly trading our future firsts.

If we are still really bad next year, it will be very tough not having our first round draft pick to at least give some hope and we will get smashed in the media about it (but to be honest if it wasn't that, they'd find something else to smash us about anyway!) but realistically, if we are able to take an extra first round pick this year, we should be in a better position.

A possible downside to having GC's pick 5 this year, would be if the AFL decide we need to match a bid on Sanders, rather than allowing us to pre-list him, he's projected around 7-8, but an early bid on him could wipe that pick 5 out.
