Peeps, can gringo2011 sub in for your list manager so we can get a 1st round pick for Henry? I've always been a big fan but I'm realistic a pick in the low 20s is the maximum I can hope and realistically it's probably low 30s. I've already accepted I'm going to be filthy at that trade.

I personally think Flanders is worth at least a top 20 pick (at least in points) so that GC can move pick 5 almost entirely to next year but that's a separate discussion
Think you’re spot on with your assessment

I hope so. More confident that GC will trade for points over straight high picks but Bell is a nightmare to deal with. He makes Dodoro look reasonable and he knows that we are a bunch of amateurs who'll hand over 10 times more than he ever expected as long as he stares them down.

I was being a bit facetious, but both Henry and Flander looked like borderline AFL players a few month ago. Just our luck that both have gone from fringe to quality when we are looking at chasing them.

It's okay we might still get Paddy Dow and Tom Jonas to fill our quota of limited players. Even Dow has raised his value now. He looked like a delisted free agent a month ago.

Dow should still be basically free. He's older and taken longer to not be a spud. The age difference should matter in whoever gets him

That's the issue.

Let's say 650k is market value.

Richmond can say "Play for 550k and you get Dreamtime, the R1 opener, ANZAC Eve & 100k members at the G"

While we have to say "We have no marquee games. We don't play at the G often. Our fans don't turn up. To make up for that we will pay you 850k. Please pick us."

Never going to be able to compete.
Name the marquee game Geelong plays in again?

It's laughable you think a player that has a finite career would take unders so they could play in the ANZAC eve game, must be why North keep getting the big trades done because they have the Good Friday game.

And 100k members is a draw because it doesn't impact how much they get paid, heave much more scrutiny and pressure on them, yep, who wouldn't wa t to take less money for that pleasure?

To me, our PPS we were really Kosi and Clarke. We still would have had pick 1 and taken Roo.
I agree regarding Kosi. If we didn't have the priority we still would have chosen Nick.

Clark wasn't straight after Ball. If we didn't have the priority, we might have got Judd, you're may well be right , Clark probably the next choice.
If none of the teams had a priority that year, idk who we would have got.
How did Hawks get a priority pick that year anyway? Ahhh the Trent Croad scam.

So what are you expecting to get for Clark?

Would have had our future second (pick 20 this year) if the deal got done last year. Hard to see that return now that he’s dropped and OOC.
Expecting?
High 20s

Probably?
Half a cheese and onion sandwich and a handful of salt n vinegar chips

He must be around the same age as Flanders. He isn't that old.

He's meant to be happy at the Saints at the moment and probably not as keen to get out. Unless you give him a long contract and a decent wage he'll probably re-sign. I reckon a mid 20s pick would get it done though.

North don’t really hold any power here. He is out of contract but you don’t really have a pick out of the first round. SOS is hard to deal with so good luck to you

Good thing is we look to have drafted well the last couple of years.

At this stage I'm confident Owens, Nas, Pou will be guns. Windy maybe too, but at least he'll be solid.

Then we have Caminiti, Keeler, Heath, Hotton who could be anything.
I have high hopes for Windhager, he seems to want it pretty badly by all accounts...he may want it a bit too much is is always a problem with youth, but it will stand to him later on. He'll be a tough competitor, and opposition won't like being against him.
Something about him reminds of Nathan Burke when he started out.
That's a handy card to have.

Shouldn't you be begging somewhere?

Given our supposed cap space it's ripe for a gentleman's agreement.

Assuming there are no offers for McKay that trigger Band 1, and we are in the position to make one, and he is happy to come, and the AFL cave on the Sanders/NGA situation (all big assumptions), would you rather:

Pick 3, ~Pick 9 and Clark (with an agreement to trade Pick 2 for Clark + 9)
OR
Pick 2 and Pick 19

Howard probably fits better in this scenario than Clark, for both parties

I feel we have a hell of a lot of talent that hasn't been exposed as of yet and with some shrewd trading in the trade and draft period there is no reason our squad will be looking pretty strong next year.

He has been a big disappointment , just hasn't shown the endeavor as the new kids.
I just hope Coffield becomes a player or that is 2 top 10 picks wasted.
In todays game you need speed and Clark doesn't have it.
Clarke has some tricks, but is just too slow and one way. Another St.Kilda speciality unfortunately.
Jury's out in Coffield too, seems unable to get on the park...and even then, he was hardly lighting it up in 2021.
Thank god for our dumpster diving, otherwise we would be royally screwed for talent between 2011-2020.

Still very hopeful on Coffield. Towards the end of 21 from memory he started coming good again. He's quick, can kick and mark and can find it enough.

I'm losing hope now. Once you're over in that mid 20s range you have to jump players already in the side and clubs tend to prefer to put time into new kids.

I always found him a real confidence type player (I think big Max is the same too) If things worked well for him in the initial part of a game, he was off & running and great to watch; but if he turned it over, or missed a mark, he'd go into his shell and wouldn't do much to fight his way out of it. That's fine when you're young, and starting out... unfortunately, even with his injuries, he doesn't have that luxury anymore. Hopefully he comes good next year, because he has the attributes to be very good.

We get Flanders and Henry it should give us a few options in the midfield and with the talk about Dow we could end end up finally getting a bit more pace through the middle.
I agree with every part of your post Premo, except Dow...I understand the arguments in favour of his acquisition, depth, fresh start etc. However I really don't want another turnover king in our team...even if he is fast (It might just mean he gives it to the opposition quicker) It's a special skill, but not one that we need more of.

He’s 23.
Sincs only came good around 25,26 years.
He's got the talent. We’ve seen it, and obviously the application as well as it was mentioned on here that he came back after pre-season in ripping nick.(pun intended.)

Just got to hope he’s past his injuries.
I’m not giving him up just yet.
