How much would Adelaide cry if Clarko got him going lol.

Tbh I think is 0.001 per cent chance of happening, but given where we are, its worth a shot.
Do you think we can get that annoying young kid in his ear too?

I reckon we really need to recruit a captain by that I mean someone who is a leader and the players can look up to them . Unless I’m mistaken we have no one on our list at the moment who truly stands out as our next captain. The two blokes doing the job at the moment just aren’t up to it . Who that player is I don’t know but it stands out like dogs balls that we have no leadership

Clarko should be having a conversation with Fischer McAsey.

Walked away from footy at the start of the year. After Adelaide moved him forward in the SANFL. Is a KPD taken at pick 6 in 19.

Is from Melbourne and went to Caufield Grammar.

Given he retired I doubt we'd have to give much for him. Also pretty doubtful he'd return to footy but it would be worth the conversation.
Definitely worth Clarko picking up the phone but would probably be a very short conversation, sounds like he's done with footy.

Do you know what "less likely" means? It doesn't mean "never happens". Listing defenders who have been injured doesn't prove or disprove that a guy like Comben is less likely to be injured in defense.
I'll give you "less likely". What part of "Australian Rules Football is a 360 degree game" don't you understand? Contests happen all around the ground. You could be injured anywhere out on the field. Anywhere! So don't give me this nonsense it is less likely to get injured in the backline. It is a fallacy! Absolute Rubbish. :stern look

None of them really appeal as wingmen.

Greenwood should be getting less minutes not more unless we have a spate of injuries.

Can we please start realising that mids are as closely related in requirements to wings as wings are to HBs, or wings to forward pockets.

Their role is now multi-pronged in the modern game:

-outside offensive running
-providing a marking option in transition and out of the back-half
-clamping down on outside opposition threats
-gun running to provide options forward, back and middle
-sweeping back to stop opposition pushes forward

It’s one of the most complicated roles in footy and no measure of chucking inside, aerobic-less mids at the problem is going to solve it.

It requires a concerted draft/trade effort.

We are lucky to have one wing locked with Bailey. We should be looking to add to it.

Our outside game has been killing us for years.

Think across the board now you need to have more than one dimsnsion to your game. tall forward needs to hunt defensively once the ball hits the deck. Rucks need to be able to float or rest up forward and have an impact either with goals, contested marks or bringing the ball to ground for roving forwards. Backs able to flip the magnets and go up forward to cause chaos on an unsuspecting backline if ours forward aren’t firing. Very few players will make it without a couple strings to their bows.

hopefully this off season though Clarko and co are just focused on building the tanks of all players. Need to be fitter to run out games and at a minimum if our skills aren’t up to it, least our effort and pressure can be to equalise those tight games and turn them premiership points and a potential 6 win 2024.
Surely time for a revamp of the high performance department, Gavin brown been there for ages, not sure if he is highly rated at north or within afl circles

I reckon Gav works on the development portfolio like George Costanza worked on the penske file.

Under the assumption that McKay leaves (which we wont trade out for less than band1 - but who knows whats happens), IMO I'm not spending a top 10 draft pick on tall KP without them being something incredible. I also don't want to use the top end picks on any more players under 6ft without the same clear number 1 talent.

After Reid, who is certainly a standout, I like Dursma more than any other player. Great kick, plays anywhere on the ground. Around 6'3 with a good build, high workrate.

If we get NGA, then we will be using pick 16 and the next pick probably to get him, so I'm happy to trade for a tall defender or move chom across for next year - potentially look at that position through next years draft.

Surely if just have access to match a bid on Sanders we are trading out ports first rounder?

Potentially, but only to make up points. It might include some pre-arranged pick trades on draft night depending on the pick he goes at. You still have to pay (I think still with a 20% discount, but not sure if that's still the case for NGA).

Someone else can bloody do it in 23 !!
Players we’ve been linked to by the media, or by rumour:

Melican
Graham
Ralphsmith
Fisher
Stephens
Flanders (likely staying)
Ethan Phillips
Himmleburg
Liam Henry
Nick Haynes
Zac Reid (rumour from months back)
Tom Fullarton
Lohmann
Dow

Ok so a dream scenario would be -

Trade Ben Mckay compo pick 2 for Melbourne 5 and 15
Package up 16, 43, 53, 59, 75 for GC 4
Start of second round assistance from city hall
Sanders academy pre selection

We end up with Picks -
1, 4, 5, 15, 19 and Sanders.
Essentially 6 top 20 picks to set us up for the next 10 years.

Try and get an experienced key back or forward for a salary dump and find a youngish key position player from the state leagues.

Totally possible right??...

The other trait of a good wing is to be disciplined enough to maintain width even if that means getting frozen out of games resulting in a low possession count and calls from the peanut gallery for your omission the next week.
