Pav rumour

From what I have heard from inside the club is that there is some problems with the coach but Pav is a a certainty to sign up with the club again its just a matter of when.

The talk about family makes me laugh as well especially when Pav's father has told him numerous times over the last 18 months to remain a 1 club player as it means so much more in the end.

Aye I'm not that bad, the only 2 times this year I have said anything I have heard was in regards to the Farmer situation and the players reaction and now this ;)

Ryan Campbell just said on his sports segment on Nova Pavlich would stay with Fremantle. Cambo reckons he has a source very close to Pavlich, got the impression it was actually Pav himself but cambo wouldnt say exactly who. Just said when the time is right he would sign. Said all the rumours were bull shite and that Pav is a one club player.

Cambo said he would put his house on Pavlich staying and went on record saying he would quit his Nova job if Pavlich left.

Sounds like Cambo has spoken to the same person I did ;)

Two (long) points:

i) If we had a coach like Woosha, Roos or Craig (or dare I say it Malthouse) who constantly got the team to play at or above their ability and Pav rebelled against him then I'd say Bye, Bye Pav don't let the door hit your ass on the way out.

But we don't. We have a suspect coach who has struggled in his time here to extract the maximum out of his players, culminating in our embarrassing slide down the ladder this year. And don't give me any of this rubbish about the season not being over yet because no matter how you look at it we should be further up the ladder at this stage if we expect to be a serious flag contenders.

We already have a rumoured past of senior players rebelling against CC being the man for the job. And if our star player, captain and one of our most ambitious and professional players doesn't want that coach here then I'm happy to show CC the door if it means we're going to get Pav's signature.

ii) With regards to Pav leaving. The difference I see between him and Josh is Pav has unfinished business here. Josh stuck around at Port until he helped them win a premiership. He repaid any investment they made in him many times over.

We recruited Pav to help the club become successful. He's our great white hope. It shouldn't be up to the club to provide Pav with a premiership, it should be up to Pav to help provide the club with a premiership. If he leads us to the holy grail I will respectfully accept his decision if he decides to return home and I will be forever grateful for his contribution to our club.

But if he runs out on our club while we are relying on him to lead us to that elusive premiership then I will resent him for the rest of my days. Or at least the rest of his playing days.

I don't care what anybody says - he accepted the position of becoming our leader and you don't abandon your troops when they need you the most just because you think the other side has more chance of winning the war. An overly dramatic and irrational analogy to be sure, but being a footy supporter is an irrational past time.
See to me this is absolutely WRONG!!!

Lets face some facts here, Pavlich has stuck with you guys through thick and thin. He has so many opportunities to go back to SA but he decided to stick with you through the toughest times your club has ever had. He had every right to leave after your 2 win season but he committed to you and has pretty much single-handedly put your club on the map and as a result has gained some respect for the footy club in wider football community.

Pavlich did more for Fremantle than anyone can expect. He has been Fremantle for 8 years and has been there through the toughest of times when not many others would have said, yep I will stay and tough it out.

He has always said that he would like to finish his career in Adelaide. That has not been a secret at all. He has turned down mulitple opportunities to go back to Adelaide just to stay with Freo and try to win the flag. It hasn't worked out and sometimes, its time to make a change. Pavlich has give more to FFC than anyone outside the club could have expected.

If he does decide to leave, I think he needs to be respected by the Freo faithful. Every team sees theie favourite sons leave at some stages of their career. We have seen it with Johnson and Stenglein in recent times. Those 2 players make it impossible for us to resent them. They gave fantastic service to our club and played their heart out for our jumper. They have decided that after 6-7 years its time to move on and they did it in respectful manner. It depends a lot on what the player has given the club and how he leaves. Many Adelaide supporters are not dirty at Stenglein and Johnson and fondly look out for them when they watch them play for their new clubs. Same way Port Adelaide people fondly remember the likes of Josh Carr. But ask the 2 groups of supporters about Nick Stevens and Fergus Watts and you get a VERY different reaction.

Pavlich deserves respect from Freo faithful no matter what his decision is at the end of the year. The man is a champion on and off the field and has been nothing but a class act to FFC.

I am not going to come on here and say that I hope he stays. I want him at AFC and I want AFC to make a strong play at him and leave no stone unturned in getting him to West Lakes. If he doesn't come then my respect for the man will be the same. He is a champion on and off the field and he deserves that respects.

You have to laugh at these Adelaide boys, creaming their pants at the thought of Pav heading back to SA.

Do not mention Kane Johnson and Pav in the same breath, that is a case for libel King Elvis. As for Josh, like esti has quoted, been there done that, and the home factor was playing with his brother .

Pav is the captain of this club and isn't going anywhere :thumbsu:

IF Pav was to go to Adelaide (and I hope he doesn't), what could they offer in return, and is there any chance we'd actually be a better team in 2008/9/10 after the trade?

I don't know their team very well, but do they have any good young midfielders, or could they trade their first draft pick (say No 10) plus a Victorian to someone like Carlton or Richmond who may not need their early draft picks this year (top 3 pick)? And then give us a top 3 draft, their 2nd rounder, plus a very good midfielder? We could then trade up one or more of our second round draft picks plus a player to an earlier pick?

Would leave us with a weaker forward line (Taz, Murph, Campbell), an improved midfield, plus possibly 3 picks in the top 12? (assuming our first rounder is likely to be around 6 - 8).

Thoughts?

Id say Van Berlo plus a 1st and 3rd round pick would be looked at...

I don't usually post this kind of stuff but I have it on pretty good authority that Matthew Pavlich will not re-sign with Freo unless Connolly goes. The person who heard this heard it from Pav manager.

I'm usually the first to think that these kinds of rumours are crap. I know I'll get flamed for this but I really trust this source.

Sorry CC but it's all over.

U idiot ...

You have no inside sources ...

You are muck raking ....

Sadly the worst thing Freo could do is get rid of CC and so of course that is exactly what they will do.

Why would getting rid of CC be the worst thing freo could do... I dont think we have a choice here. We had one good year amongst years of mediocre uninspired football. Some blame has to go down to the players but a coach should be able to get the players to play for him after 5 - 6 years. A change is needed

I agree that anyone that thinks they have some sort of "inside" sources is a complete idiot. Everybody hears rumours and they mean jack shit.

On the CC comment, i have to disagree. I have been a massive CC fan over the years but i think it is time for a change, especially if we miss out on the 8. Lets get Kevin Sheedy! Then the Pav will stay for sure.

To be honest, Port have more to look at than Adelaide.
S Burgoyne
D Pearce
D Cassisi

Hopefully Pav knows that and it could tip the balance in our favour. There's no doubt Pav would much prefer to play for Adelaide but if the only chance of a deal is with Port then it may make going back home to play seem a tad less attractive to him.

The title of the thread says it all.

A little bit of innuendo from the media and the ever reliable "i have a source who says .....yada yada..." and watch the snowball grow. Most of the posters here look like they would walk into a job with any media outlet they've already got the bullsh*t down pat. He AINT going nowhere.

lol Gray won't be involved, ur club should've drafted him when they had the chance

Of course. Pav's such an average player how dare we expect to get some decent players in return.

Maybe you should have drafted Pav when you had the chance.
