Taller, nowhere near as agile, Jezza was cat-like and could vacuum the ball when it was on the ground like Judd. Both great pack marks, accuracy would be an interesting comparison. Charlie not as freakish, Jezza more position flexible. For those older than me. How does Charlie compare with Jezza?
It's hard to think of a modern equivalent of Jezza. Gary Ablett Sr played a similar style of game if you remember him. Jezza was only 182cm, would not hold down a key position in the modern game, but it was different in the 70s, players are so much taller now. He played midfield, inside and out, played forward - as a full forward kicked over 100 goals in a season. Later in his career played half-back. If he played today, it'd probably be in a Dusty/Trac type of role I'd guess. Confident with his skills/talent, and a modern training and match preparation setup, he'd be better than both. Was such a joy to watch. For those older than me. How does Charlie compare with Jezza?

Croswell is a very apt comparisonI have posted this before. Jezza has Charlie covered at this point
Charlie is at the Kouta, Croswell level
Jezza was a contenderJezza with the Marlon Brando looks.
Jezza was a different sort of player than Charlie. Jezza was deceptively strong and very hard to take off his feet. Was as good at half forward or in defence. Probably the closest I have seen to him was Gary Ablett snr. Freakish leap and marking ability. Was a bit nonchalant about his footy if that makes sense. For those older than me. How does Charlie compare with Jezza?
And that if things go bad next year we'll be down to his place to get it sorted. If you're reading this Charlie......tell Ed we love him........and to enjoy his well earned retirement......
