Why does everyone assume we won't have to pay for Sanders? Like in what world is the AFL going to just give us a top player for free? We were in a worse position last year and got like pick 39 lol.

If we have to match a bid (and even that isn't guaranteed!) it'll render any first round picks after 3 null and void. Unless we can perform miracles and wrangle GC's pick 4.

Were we in a worse position last year?

We lost however many it was in a row, We've lost Cunnington, Ziebell and about to lose Mckay and Goldy. Our only KPD will miss most of the year.

I'd say we are in a similar position to last year so the assistance given didn't help.
No way we don't finish bottom 4 again next year, possibly even bottom 2.

They are also indiginous so maybe Liam Henry should be 1 we should look at.....

Bobby Hill is 179cm
Liam Henry is 179cm
Ksiahah Picket is 171 cm
and Watson is 170cm

While Watson may be great the indiginous guys seem to have some else that makes them exciting to watch...
McAdam in the PSD?

But we got George with the second rounder last year - well worth it.

Not sure you're following.

We got George with a 2022 2nd rounder by selling our 2023 2nd rounder. We're always a 2nd rounder short now off the CCJ deal.

Lance collard from Subiaco colts.goes very nicely as a small fwd.always kicking bags of multiple goals...lightning quick..I'm sure if he was from Vic .He'd be talked about a lot more.

Based on that writeup West Coast probably have the smear piece on his character ready to post just in case people start catching on to him.

There's a physicality and contested marking threat with Pickett and Hill that I've not seen in Watson.
Pickett and Hill can stand on somebody's head and take a big grab.
If the ball isn't out in front of Watson or on the ground can he have an impact against a Quaynor? Not sure on that.
The Will Hoskin-Elliott comparison to Duursma has me unsure on him now when I was thinking he looked top 3 lol.
Does McKercher make sense if we're likely to have a mid in O'Sullivan/Smith/Smillie in top 3 next year?
We need Kerch's running power but can he play wing or half back? If we take him do we move on Powell/Phillips? Big call.
Do we go taller and take Curtin/O'Sullivan/Caddy at picks 2 and 3. That's a massive call when we could trade down perhaps.
Not an easy decision on the order but it seems the top 5 is clear but the order could be very different from club to club.
I've been Reid/Curtin and Watson but wouldn't be upset if it's Duursma or McKercher.
I guess we could even go Duursma and McKercher as well, that's why it's very hard to predict.

I was a big Duursma sceptic but I've come around in the last month - would love for him to be played somewhere other than the forward line though as I still have some concerns around his ground ball ability so more midfield time would be great.

The way Rawlings was talking on gettable it seemed our top 4 at the time was locked in, including positions within that top 4. Seems like a pretty silly thing to say 4-5 months from the draft but maybe he really meant it and it hasn't budged - if he was serious then Duursma would still not be in our calculations.
I don't think Duursma has done or been better than the 4 we have already marked at 4 Yeah he has been really good the last month all so but not sure he has done enough to get in front of our top 4 options.

I think it's fair to assume Duursma will be 190 and 88 ish in time. If he's not good enough around the footy to play mid, fair enough. But physically he's the prototype.
I’ll be very surprised if Duursma gets to that sort of weight. Looks a longer leaner type to me. His brother has been in the system a few years now and is only 81kg.

With where we are, you can’t take the risk on a 170cm small forward inside the Top 5 picks, regardless of his measureables.
Ideally we’d be going talls with our early picks, but other than Curtin there really isn’t anyone who justifies getting picked that early.

We desperately need some dynamic movement and pressure inside our forward line. Watson provides that. I’m generally not into shorter players but he has more than enough tools to overcome it and be a 40+ goal a year small forward.

Souup How many tackles would Watson be averaging across the year?

3.

Sheez always had that elite vision, footy IQ and decision making. It really didn’t matter where on the field he was put he’d still find ways to impact games.

IMO Duursma isn’t close to him in that regard. He also doesn’t have much evasiveness when playing through the midfield. When he has pressure on him, his decision making and disposal goes from classy to rushed.

He looks at home in the forward line but I think he’ll really struggle with the bigger bodies and the step up in speed at AFL level.

I’ve mentioned it before but I get big Will Hoskin Elliot vibes from him. Will was a gun junior, which resulted in him going top 10 in a good draft, but because of his body he struggled to have the same impact at AFL level as he did in juniors.
How does he compare to Rozee?

Sounds like Jack Ziebell.

And he said this before the Curtin hype train started in the media and most draft experts had him below Mckercher and Watson.
195cm backs with midfield like skills and run are hard to pass up.
People thinking he's undersized - May 193, Lever, 194, Weitering 195, Wilkie 191
