Morris ran with “they won’t get Sanders” again yesterday FYI.

What I’ve personally heard is either way, it’s 100% a Dillon decision.
Bit worried if it’s a Dillon decision, strikes me as someone who’ll go with the influential clubs and means we won’t get him at all, unless we pick him.

Tholstrup getting into it before the bounce, did someone mention his hair?

won't get at all or won't get for free?

For free. He mentioned it would be a bidding scenario which is perfectly fine IMO if the worst case scenario is no access at all.

honestly i'd agree, like free would be amazing but as if they're going to do that as he's looking better and better by the game

So our assistance is we get to bid on a NGA prospect in the same way all clubs can?

Superb.

No because other clubs can't. Other clubs have to wait until their NGA kids are bid on after pick 40, they lose them beforehand. This gives us a guy who is nearing a top 5 talent (from a let's be honest broken academy where none of us either heard of him six months ago) for a mix of later picks. It's not bumper but it's way better than having no access to him (which we don't because he hasn't even been approved as being in our NGA yet).

He suggested North will need to get creative to land Sanders. Sounded like we will need to find another way to land him via draft picks .. Tom didn’t give any examples of how we could make it happen. The whole thing was just confusing.

Hope we get him then.

Seems like a V8 that just keeps running, I reckon he'd certainly take some load off Wardlaw and LDU which would help us manage their game time and longevity.
Any thoughts on what impact having access to Sanders (matching or not matching) combined with next years mid heavy top end would have on how we view McKercher at P2 or P3 (if we get it)?

I may cope some flak for this from more experienced draft watchers, but geez Curtin moves like a midfielder when the ball is in offensive transition. Has not been his day today, but still a lot to like.

Seems like I'm not the only one that sees his midfield potential.

So we add two more midfielders to our group and don't address the many deficiencies in our list with elite young talent

McKercher would play off half back and wing. Major deficiency. We'll also take Curtin who looks like he could play on any line at the moment.

Sanders would be essentially a free hit and looks mint.

It's not as bad an idea as it seems, they will fill other spots along the draft etc and across the next couple of years we develop competition for spots and develop some tradeable currency which will be handy to fill the little spots we need to down the line.

Hmmm. Great stat. There ya go. Want him even more now.
Where did the other 7 medallists get drafted roughly? Always top 5-10?

2022 - Ashcroft (2)
2019 - Deven Robertson (22)
2018 - Sam Walsh (1)
2017 - Oscar Allen (21)
2016 - Jack Graham (53)
2015 - Josh Schache (2)
2014 - Christian Petracca (2)
2013 - Dom Sheed (11)
2012 - Lachie Whitfield (1)
2011 - Stephen Coniglio (2)
2010 - Harley Bennell (2)
2009 - David Swallow (1)
2008 - Jack Watts (1)
2007 - Cale Morton (4)
2006 - Tom Hawkins (41)
2005 - Marc Murphy (1)

They have told them they will keep them together sanders and mckercher
They're the two best players in the draft behind Reid and Walter, in my opinion. So it makes sense to me. Draft the best guys. Try for Reid, as well with pick 2 and Port's pick but if WC want an unreasonable amount then settle for the next two best.

I tend to think as well if we're blindsided and miss out on Sanders altogether it'll push McKercher up even moreso. The only way that may shift is if we manage to trade up for Reid.

Curtin didn't have much of it, but he moves so well for a big bloke, has a lovely, well weighted kick, is classy and really composed. Will he be in a North jumper the next time we see him? Big men take time; in his current trajectory he could be anything.

Tholstrup looks a smart player. Goes hard, loves the contest, plays with swagger. Tagged Bolton for large parts today. Not sure of weapons at AFL level. Shocking hair.

Sorry, Claremont boys. ;)

We are needing an elite running mid. While I understand McKercher has been playing predominantly in the guts and has excelled there, until he gets bigger, he could play wing HB better than many on our list.

Sanders (from reports) is one of the most footy smart players in the draft. You can never go wrong with smart players. See Sheeze.

We will still get either a KPP or small forward (both equally as lacking) in the top to go with them.

Then there is what we do with 16.

Glad I wasn’t the only one to notice his nice kicking style. There is a lot to like. Can easily see him pinch hitting in the midfield.
