Remember when Hawthorn lost to us in 2018 in a close semi? Well we are Hawthorn now and Carlton are us.
It did have that feel about it, i said it a couple of times this week. They're playing in the moment and we didn't

Hopefully then (not that i care) the lions will embarriss them for a half then make a comeback against the pies in the GF

When asked about the sub:

"yeah look we just wanted to continue to have a big body down there to help us bring it down aerially"

1. He wasn't doing it
2. The sub was a ****ing KPF

The coaching staff have NFI. I'm actually amazed they won a flag. Tmac and Stafford better be sacked by the end of the wknd.

The board will get into him. They’ll be pretty foul. It’s not going to be a nice set of board and exit meetings at Melbourne. He absolutely deserves another season, we’ve got to now address what we lack, gun for high quality assistants, and remodel our midfield.

I honestly don’t think a lot of these issues are unworkable. Finals exposes deficiencies and that’s exactly what’s occurred.

Hawthorn supporters empathising 'saying yeah we went out in straight sets 16, 18' yeah OK but wasn't that at the end of 13, 14, 15 premiership runners up in 12 and also a surprise premiership in 08. Yeah must be tough.

The board are more angry at the players apparently. Too many ticking off their minimum hours per week and thinking that's enough. It came to the fore in our execution in the finals.

Goodwin's position is untenable

He's another Luke Beveridge

Please mate just go and coach Adelaide when Nicks gets the can - stop ruining this list. Your brand is unwatchable garbage which cant win finals
This x1000. Bulldogs were/still are too stubborn and proud to rip the Band-Aid, and look where they are now. Absolute no man’s land, and slowly going backwards despite a much better than average list.

We are following their exact path, and will now continue to do so by accepting mediocrity.

Thanks Simon for the ‘21 cup, we will forever be thankful for that, but your time has come and gone. If we don’t make big changes, we will be accepting a slide to obscurity, and as Richskee said, the premiership window will completely close despite having a top 4 list.

Won't be sacked this offseason but prelim or bust next year.

Is there a 6 month clause like the Saints/Ratten extension? If we don’t sack him now we have him for at least another 24 months.

What have you heard? Any particular players?

Nah was just a general comment from what I heard. Not that the coaches escape responsibility, but fair to say the blame is falling mostly on the playing group for this year's finals losses.

Remember the good old days after the 2021 flag where they were back training almost straight away due to lockdown boredom? What a time to be alive.

Guess everything being open again changes that mindset.

I think he is a peanut, the horrible inaccuracy in front of goal is a great out for him as it's mostly beyond his control. What he did have control of though was selecting TMac, the Schache sub farce, "no Melbourne ruck" etc.

We've played a borderline unwatchable style of football for most of the season, recruited Grundy with 0 plan on how to get the best out of him or Max, came into the year thinking some combination of TMac, JvR and Brown were going to be our first choice key forwards when 2 were blatantly cooked and 1 was untried.

Hate the messaging around how close we were, how even the competition is etc. Can never discredit what he helped us achieve in 21 but agree with others that it reeks of a bevo situation at this point.

I don't agree with people who mention the TMac/Schache sub thing as a factor. We were all over Carlton in the last quarter. We just couldn't convert. That's all. Why make a change when you have momentum. We should've won the game by 5 goals.

How is it Goodwin's fault that we can't kick straight for goal?

A fresh Schache should at least get on the end of a couple of kicks; and he's known as a decent kick so potentially dobs the sealer. Didn't see TMc having any shots in the last.

The fact we picked a bloke as sub with such a narrow view of when/how he'd be used is very dumb (and very us). 10 minutes of Hibbo at the end would've been a great asset.

It was a shit, timid coaching move for a regular season game. For a final, it was disgraceful.

Don't think anyone is suggesting the squandered shots were Goodwins fault but that doesn't mean we can't be critical of decisions that he made.

What was the point of making Schache the sub then not using him when TMac (who shouldn't have been selected) was giving us nothing? That scared that Schache is going to come on and make some horrible error that is worse than TMac jogging around having no impact at all?

For those against finding a way to move him on for say a Buckley etc, do you genuinely believe we will win another GF under Goodwin given the trajectory we are on?

Personally, the writing is on the wall, and I just can’t see it happening.
With you, understand blaming the players last night for the epic choke but does anyone believe we were a chance against Brisbane or any hope of a flag playing like this? All year felt like we were doing just enough to be there abouts come finals while other teams made genuine strides.

I'd rather crash and burn than another year of treading water and lamenting how close we are.
