I don't get the pont of this post. Am I missing something?
Pretty sure that photo is from the controversial game where Neale got 3 votes with a 20 disposal game ahead of 7 goals for Charlie, 41 disposals for Kelly, 38 disposals to Coniglio, and 20 touches and 4 goals to Daniels.

Bloody hell, I forgot about Joyce.

Drafting your mascot who easily would've been there in the rookie draft is an all-time stinker.
Or the guy in the Crowmania van

Murphy? He was a late rookie pick, the second last pick ahead of Jackson Edwards. Not really the same as a third round ND pick in the 40s.

I don’t recall the Brownlow being so bizarrely inaccurate before. Do I have a short memory or was this year particularly bad ?? 2023 have to be the worst collective umpiring performance of any year. Watch the afl rush to add even more to the field next year 😂.

Chris Judd's second Brownlow when he was at Carlton was just as, if not more bizarre. Dane Swan far and away had the best season

Yet somehow they managed to manufacture Swan winning the Brownlow the following year. TBF, Swan had a good following year, but nowhere as dominant as the previous. And the medal could've quite easily gone to someone else

The JHF 3 against Geelong has to be investigated, there is simply no way anyone could suggest he was even in the top 10 on the ground that night. 13 disposals at 53% DE, 4 frees against, 3 score involvements and 3 clearances. He has similar votes to Butters at this point, wtf, Butters and then Rozee were clearly Port’s best 2 all season.

Umpires thought he and Bergmann were the same player.

Is there anything more ****ed than the Brownlow?

No, not really. Nothing that comes to mind except the fixture, the MRP, the draft, the umpiring...

the AFL is thoroughly ****ed.
The problem with the AFL is the actual league is the governing body of the actual sport itself. They are accountable to no one and hence why they’re run like an amateur organisation that is stifled with corruption.

Another example of quantity of quality when it comes to 4 AFL umpires.

The reason the brownlow is becoming so inaccurate is the AFL itself.

The AFL rules committee are asking umpires to take into account all this criteria before they pay a free kick or not. Umpires are seriously not going to be focusing on which player is doing what. So its almost unfair in a way to ask the umpires to award the votes in this circumstance because most of the time they really wouldn't know. Especially as half the time they are made to stand 30 metres away from the play.

I think the AFL should allocate a representative from each state, including NT, ACT and Tasmania to award the votes from each game. They pick their top 5 players etc and the top 3 players after being tallied together then get the 3,2,1 votes. It would be way more accurate and would reward players in all positions.

I'd like to see an investigation into that Giants game where he got the 3 in a sub-standard performance Neale had a good, but not great year (didn't even make the AA team).

Bont really deserved it, and I thought Petracca was also robbed of a few votes, but it didn't help that Viney stole votes off him.
There was also another game where he probably should have polled and didn’t, I think it evens out in the end. His year wasn’t that bad, still 5th in coaches votes and number one in clearances.

I don’t think he was the best player this year and Bont was better, but then Neale probably should have won it last year. So again, evens out.

Daicos injury is the only reason we are having this discussion anyway.
