Oliver ? Nah not going to happen unless we sell the farm getting him. Melbourne would be nuts to let him go. Oliver, Petraca and Gawn is the spine of that team. Melbourne is still very much in the premiership window it would have to be something nuts to get Oliver out of there
Even if he's unhappy at the moment I don't know who would stump up for him ? surely Melbourne would be asking for two first rounders for him or a first rounder and player.

No verified Media source has confirmed Joel Hamling talk that I can find.

Mentioned here Ticky

Hope we keep our 28 year not out history of not recruiting a Docker in tact on this occasion

Here is a hypothetical trade for Oliver

11, F1, Amartey to Dees if they want him or Norf for 15 and on traded to Dees

Dees want Reid

Oliver gets a pay rise plus Beatson delivers a public apology and promises to live off Weight Watchers to address his own rotund figure.

Dees BF board want Gulden and Blakey!

So, just to confirm, the only player to have publicly nominated us is James Jordon?

Correct but I think we can lock in Grundy.

I don’t know much about Jordon or Dow but Dow is a better fit for us imo.

In the alternate universe where we land Oliver as well, we are instantly one of the premiership favorites but I see no reason to believe that is happening.

Goodness knows why people on here want Paddy Dow, has to be one of the only blokes to increase in people's thoughts despite not making the Carlton side. He's pretty ordinary, sure take him for a throwaway 5th rounder but Carlton will want more

IMO, the trade with Stephens may be intertwined with the BG trade, in that we have to see what we can extract from Norf first in any other trade(s).

Or maybe I am totally wrong - who knows, it's trade pre-week!

Our second is MORE than fair for Grundy.

The art of negotiation is that we offer as little as possible and they ask for as much as possible and we meet somewhere that we both can live with. Given that there will be other things happening there's a fair chance neither club yet knows where that is, just that they both want to do it.

Now, now, now Chris, enough of that logic stuff!!!

It's been mentioned many times that with all of the academy and F/S matches, our pick 23 may drop to around pick 27-30.

Melbourne might not want that, so a pick swap may get us picks that points total may add up to say a pick 20, which may then satisfy Melbourne.

All hypothetical until the nitty gritty is done, to get the trade done early in the trade period.

Doubt we'll waste too much time with this one. Honestly would prefer giving a third, but a second meh who cares if that's what gets it over so be it.

As you said, it may be tangled up with a Stephens trade or, even worse, an attempt to trade up to pick 4 or 7. That could delay the Grundy trade until quite late, purely because of what pick(s) are available.
