Something that went under the radar is Jackson Kornberg is leaving Gold Coast after winning their VFL flag

He was previously the Sandy Dragon coach

Would be a great get but now that I have mentioned him

He will probs end up at north or something
It was discussed a few pages back - the feeling is he’d be a good get.

It must be about time we beat other clubs to a desirable signing. It’s been the other way round for too long 🙁

I agree with this except for a bit of joylessness that crept in over the last couple of years. I was actually really pleased to see him smile and make a few jokes last night.

When was this? I must have missed that bit.

Our AFLW side has started the season 5 zip. Coach Burke has just signed a two-year extension (well done again Granty and Ameet!). This is Burke talking about this team (you decide if this is good leadership):

After their latest loss, Burke slammed his side’s sub-par professional standards.
“We’re not fit enough. I said that to the girls in there, we’re not going to make excuses over that because I think there are probably things outside of injuries, within our control, that would make us fitter,” Burke, who signed a two-year contract extension in 2022 and moved from a part- to full-time role, said.
Nathan Burke and captain Ellie Blackburn chat during the loss to the Demons.

“Just understanding the level of professionalism required now – skipping an ice bath or not eating properly, that doesn’t cut it anymore ... I’m not going to point fingers at anyone, it’s general across the group. The whole league has raised the level, and we have to accept that and go with it as well.”
He added the group was “too nice on the football field”.

Nothing wrong with that at all for mine. If we aren’t at the level why not call it out

If there are issues, they need to be called out. The playing group needs to understand that criticism is not a personal attack. If you have any substance to you at all, and some tells you you're falling down in an area, you take it on board and do something about it.

Geez Leppa would be bloody huge, serious success since he left Brisbane. That’s the sort of move we should be doing everything we can and paying whatever *ing price it takes to get done.

I’ll believe it when I see it though
Unless we were blowing Collingwood out of the water financially not sure what incentive he’d have to move. Pretty sure he’s stated he doesn’t have a huge interest in senior coaching again and he’s got a great role with a great team as it is

It's clearly a pipedream but some people are motivated by different challenges. He's now won flags as the senior assistant at the Tigers & Pies and now might move on the next fulfillment piece. One can hope!

Yep agree. Thinks very differently too from the norm.
If he thought more like this Norm, then he'd be a 5 time premiership coach and this entire thread would be a fever dream.

I have all the answers.

The issue I have is:
1. The coach making these points public;
2. The coach not taking responsibility for the team's approach to preparation on game day.
Devils advocate:

For all we know he might have already made these points privately several times and is trying to send a rocket

A coach can try to implement whatever preparation strategies they want, players are the ones that need to actually do it
