Sean Darcy is on the way

In the most conservative of cases that $1.4m we've cleared is all that is available.

A draftees wage rounds out to about $200k a year say we pick three players and expect them to play most games.
That would leave us with $800k, you'd probably expect 500-600k would be spent on McAdam and Fullarton. Which leaves $300k left over.

Without knowing how much cap space we have before that $1.4m it's hard to know how much we actually have to play with.

As much as I want McKercher, if we get the indication that Curtin will somehow slip to our pick, I hope to god we hold onto it.

I hadn't even considered him as a plausible option, but he'd be ridiculously good value at Pick 7. We'd end up with a premium talent, while holding onto the rest of our draft hand this year and next (pending a move for GC's pick 11). No-brainer IMO.

The Ben McKay compo pick doesn’t bother me as much as everyone else, Essendon have to pay him marquee money to trigger that compensation and he’s far from worth the money. It’s such an obvious fail under the guise of it being a “free hit” in free agency.

Yes everyone else after that pick in the draft suffers but it does Essendon more harm than anyone so it’s all good.

Melbourne feeding the media lies to try and get West Coast to accept pick 6 as part of our offer for 1.

This is more believable to me. Blows my mind that the Dogs wouldnt take him, they may have a hard on for Watson but plans can change if someone is there you dont expect. I cant see him dropping any further than 5 sadly.

Just reading the article too about Curtain, North trading 2+ for Reid and West Coast moving back to 2 to take Curtain makes too much sense. Think that should be the favourite as the outcome.

Probably just posturing but apparently West Coast were saying 3 top ten picks was their starting point for pick 1. No one will pay that. Best offer I could see would be North acquiring 11 from the Gold Coast and offering 2, 11 and one of their Future EoR picks. Any more than that would be crazy imo.

I've said it for ages and the lower WC can get Curtin the more incentive there is for them to do a deal.

If I were the Eagles I'd be telling North to get pick 10 and offering North 1 for 2 and 10.

North get Reid and McKercher or Duursma, West Coast get Curtin and another highly rated player rather than putting all eggs in the Reid basket.

There's 2 guys I don't rate in the top 10. Curtin and Sanders. Anyone else I'd be pumped to get:)
Let me guess, it's got something to do with footy IQ.

If the pull is genuine for Petty to go back to SA and we can manage to turn that into Harry McKay, albeit potentially with another 2nd/3rd rounder chucked in, I think I'd be happy with that in the full context of the circumstances. Better than potentially losing him as a free agent in 2025.

Agree on Sanders, he is a big body for under 18s hence he dominates but he doesn't have any pace and isn't overly skilled. Even if he turns out to be a good player we don't need his type of player at all.
Would be great if he's selected before our pick leaving other options for us.

Brad Johnson, Adelaide selling to him that he'd be there #1 KPD, lol, one of the worst reasons you could possibly come up with. Like that reason would convince anyone.

Yeah you know what, I've always wanted to play in a worse backline with worse players around me. Exactly what I'm looking for.
