If we’re not sold on Wilson (and I am) I’d try and slide back.

I wonder whether GC would accept our first, second, third and fourth for what is currently 11 and 18?
I’d try and slide our first back into x 2 selections in between 17 - 25 (ish) and try and manufacture a deal that sees us end up with 3 - 4 picks inside 30 in next years draft.

Not sure we could accomplish both of those things with what we have, unless we do something out of the box.

North will probably get 11 as it stands. I’d be interested in 18 though.

They can probably trump us but I’d offer our first four picks which is 2376 points and try and grab those two picks which tally about 1800.

GC win big on points and it doesn’t really hurt us because we probably only want to be and be in a position to be taking 2 live selections anyway plus upgrading Baldwin plus free agents plus Duursma.

Yeah, may have got a touch greedy but would still like 1 x pick between 17 - 25ish + 3 picks inside 30 (35ish) next year.

Split pick 9, trade out future second cause a future is always more likely than a current (apparently)

Trade 1 ~ Pick 9 for one of North Melbourne’s (2024) draft assistance package selections + pick 21

Trade 2 ~ Pick 21 + Pick 30 for Gold Coast pick 18 + future second

Leave us with
2023 draft ~ Pick 18 (2023), Pick 51 (2023)
2024 draft ~ future 1st (North Melbourne), future 1st (Essendon), future 2nd (Gold Coast)

May be a little (a lot) weighted against us, but this is the general gist of where I would like to see us going.

Genuine question, have we ever traded into the future OR just traded out? Feel Dodoro is a little out of touch in this regard. A gnarly stat somewhere recently that has us well below any other team in the competition for trades.

I think is the 13-27 group

Id like to have our 3 picks in

Also i dont mind
T.Wheaton
P.Gothard aswell

Theres some real competitive big guys, some Tall fwds and running half backs in that group that all hit a need

F1 and 9 to get up to pick 6?
Would rather pass on that and take the risk. Despite people saying their is an " elite 8" I am not sold. Reid is elite . If we are not chasing him then I am not giving in another first round pick .

Yeah, we're much better off taking more bites at the first round than one slightly bigger bite.

Eagles are right to ask for it with north having those picks. But they’ve got rocked in their heads if they think north will give up 2 and 3
Yeah I doubt they do it either but if they really rated Reid as generational they could argue it only cost pick 2 and a player they didn't want in Ben McKay. The overall price makes it more appealing.

Isn't this supposed to be a weak draft?
I'm reluctant to slide back in a weak draft. There are decent options at 9.

I’m envisioning us potentially having the choice between Wilson or maybe Leake and then the key backs and rucks which we don’t need.

If we could get two picks in that next group I think it’s worth investigating.

But if we like Wilson I suspect he will be gift wrapped there for us.

I think Wilson will be taken earlier. His running power will be seenm as a real weapon by GWS or Geelong.

Is there any danger of Wilson being another Brayden Ham? Great runner, decent skills, but no physical presence.

Think our picks should just be kept to draft night

See whats there at 9

If not what we like. Move back to 2 of that 13-27 range which many clubs have 2 picks in atm

At worst we end up with D.Wilson or Windsor

Then look at a Logan Morris at pick 30

I think it’s quite shallow. But the top 10 are meant to be very good.

This looks good on paper, but if there are no clubs interested, it's not really an option, or our desperation will mean we take a terrible deal.

my thoughts exactly. nothing really knocking the door down to get up to 5 or 6

Absolutely

I still think some sides will have alot of love for guys such as Wilson, Windsor, Murphy, Leake

Swans probably arent letting Murphy past their pick 12/13 so if a club wants him then will need to get ahead

And we still need that to occur for the now anyway

Most clubs like moving up

It's probably been discussed, but what would be the chances of Zane Duursma getting to us at our first pick?

He's rated higher by reports, but I'm sure his comments would be noted by recruiters, who do put some thought into external factors like that.

Would be a great fit on the left side of Wright.

Doubtful, would require a couple of clubs to reach a bit when there's no real indication he wouldn't want to play elsewhere.

If we wanted him we'd almost certainly need to trade up.

All things being equal, there’s no chance he gets to 9
