Yeah, you wanted to trade Oliver, Petty to pick up Mccluggage and Ryley Sanders... I know you like a bit of excitement but there's nothing exciting about gutting a list

Not exactly. We should still start talking to Mcclugage however if we have 1.4M cap space and another 1M next year with our dinosaurs resigning. Victorian who is a free agent in 2024.

Could Jefferson be closer to the seniors then we give credit?

He has packed on the weight over 2023 and could come in play a Jye Amiss type role.

This is more believable to me. Blows my mind that the Dogs wouldnt take him, they may have a hard on for Watson but plans can change if someone is there you dont expect. I cant see him dropping any further than 5 sadly.
Agreed he'll be gone by our puck, and likely long before the dog even have the option, but given there derth of talls, it wouldn't shock me if they didn't prioritise him.

Hopefully, but it would be extremely negligent if not diabolically stupid to go into next year with JVR, Schache and Jefferson as our KPF options.

They took Busslinger early last year and get Croft this year, so would be surprised if they went tall again.

They need some genuine quality smalls to replace the rotating cast of C grade flankers and wingers they run through each year. It’s the biggest weak spot on their list.

Have we traded in Will Minson yet? Until we do, we're clearly not winning trade week!

11AM - DEES TIPPED TO GO BIG IN PURSUIT OF KEY FORWARD

Kane Cornes believes Melbourne could be “cooking up something big” in its bid to address its key forward woes, having nearly cleared around $1.5 million in cap space so far.

The departures of James Harmes and James Jordon and the pending departure of Brodie Grundy could leave the Dees with around $1.5 million of salary cap space, according to SEN reporter Tom Morris.

Additionally, Morris said there was a degree of urgency for the Dees in getting a deal done with Sydney for Grundy, having baulked at the Swans’ initial offer of a pick in the 40s.

“Melbourne are trying to get the Grundy deal done as soon as they can. They rushed over to the Sydney recruiters and list management team on day one of the trade period, they’re trying to sort it out,” Morris said.

“They’ve clearly got bigger fish to fry later in the trade period with this money you speak of.”

Cornes said the evidence suggested a big play was looming for the Dees.

“Are they cooking up something big? The evidence I have: Jay Clark reporting they had a throw at the stumps for Tom Hawkins, clearly they desperately need a key forward and that’s been obvious for anyone that’s watched football over the last couple of years,” he began.

“They’re clearing salary cap room, being pretty open to letting Brodie Grundy go even though they don’t have a backup ruckman for Max Gawn.

“Is a Harry McKay, is another unnamed player that plays in the forward half of the ground that is a big man, are they willing to have a crack at someone like that?”

Cornes added: “Not only do they have the money to spend, they’ve got the picks to get deals done.”

Pick 6 - O’Sullivan (presuming McKercher, Duursma and Curtin are gone)

Pick 14 - Leake or Windsor (presuming Wilson is gone)

Pick 27 - throwing darts here but any slider or I otherwise like the look of Charlie Edwards, and either of the 2 ruckmen Green/Edwards, Shaun Mannagh and Luamon Lual amongst others.

All well and good to have the money & the picks but there isn't anyone seriously available.

Go have a look at the top 50 goalkickers from last year & I honestly can't see anyone who would be realistically available that would move the needle as a Key Forward.

I'd be up for some Darcy Fogarty action. Can stand in our forward blobs and gut punch defenders all day. No one'd see a thing with how we clog it up.

Also, gun kick. Sign me up.

If we are going to blow this draft hand and a bunch of cap space the only feasible options that interest me are Ben King, Jamara and Nick (souv) Larkey.

Really like Lual, think he will be a regular 22 for who picks him.

Wouldn’t mind a punt in Moir either.
