Lol - considering the strike rate around here, that's seems a bad strategy.

Schultz did refuse a contract extension trigger, but it kicks in the end of next year. Has a partner with family health issues.

Henry out of contract.

There's obviously something a bit suss happening there around their player relations. Schultz mentioned that in a podcast, and they've lost a lot of players in recent years, including WA players choosing to leave and move interstate.

Where’s the traded in list?

Without making more than it is, I asked about Schultz, given they are losing Henry as well.
Yeah, I leapt into respond too quick.

Apologies that I got that wrong - I genuinely don't understand what's happening there. They seem to really be turning over their list at an unnecessary level, including a lot of players wanting to leave that seem surprising.

Schultz has sounded disgruntled in the past - they delisted and rookied him one year where he'd played every match, and they gave him a series of one year contracts in a row.

Players just seem to get jack of them - but they've also traded a few who were in contract, so it also sounds a bit bull headed of the Freo staff?

Hard to know, I guess.

Has anyone else gone back to the club they left after just a year?

Justin “shit bloke” Murphy the only one that springs to mind (Cats 2001 between two stints at the Blues).

It's not Wells anymore though - that seems to be the commentary. Mackie hard to deal with.

Most clubs try and be somewhat accommodating because the trade market is a two way street.

The problem with the Dodoro style is that if you're asking top dollar of opposition clubs then on the flip side they'll be asking for top dollar for players when you come knocking.

Essendon found that out with the Dylan Shiel trade when the Giants refused to compromise with their asking price.

Sooner or later Mackie thinking that he can win every trade is going to come back to haunt him.

Hang on… where’s Mitch McGovern?

I can think of a few that didn't wait too long - Trent Croad only hung around for 2 seasons at Freo, before heading back to Hawthorn; at least Dayne Beams gave Brisbane 4 seasons, before going back to Collingwood.

If Dodoro had been compromising, why would the Giants return the favour with Shiel?

If anything the idea of "trading relationships" in the AFL is a crock of shit. Ultimately there are too little options available for it to influence and it's just code for "we got fleeced and are trying to justify it". Which eventually hits every club.

Always remember this from 1997 and the Andrew Mackie story. Such a smooth looking player.
I always thought the Crows never took the draft seriously and preferred to exchange picks for average players. The swap of pick 12 to PA in 2000 for Bode and they picked up Burgoyne with that pick. Kane Cornes later on.

Even our "Crows fans" midfield is poor. Not a bad forward line though...

He really isnt taking this well..

Notice how the flog says nothing about the powa trading their future 1st for some s**t picks.. an F1 that geelong wouldve told them they would be demanding for Rat..

Its just pathetic.. he and the scummy club he aligns himself with just expect everyone else to bend over and accept their s**t.
No, Mackie just really hates Port!
