I'm not sure why you're so big on slightly built, flaky lead-up forwards who will struggle to get a kick with how we move the ball.

If having a lead-up KPF was all we needed to change the way we move the footy, Ben Brown would've done that for us already. Instead, we continued to send the ball to the moon going inside 50, rendering him completely useless.

Not sure why everyone purely thinks our issues are with ball use despite us kicking 17 points in a final - many on easy angle/ranges. Our forwards had ample opportunity.

As I said the issue is 2-fold. Both with our forward line and midfield connection. We should be looking at both issues opposed to dismissing improving one altogether like some here (our forward line) due to our ball use.

We should be looking to improve both.

Absolutely we should be looking to improve both, I agree. I just think that becomes harder if you target one player who's going to blow your entire draft capital (+ salary cap) like JUH would. Better to spread the wealth across multiple areas of the field.

The 17 behinds in a final is a bit of a cop-out though. Our efficiency inside 50 has been a consistent problem for years, and ball use has been the number one catalyst of that.

Completely agree, getting in one KPF on a tonne of money wont solve our issues. Every chance they wont even peak by the time we are still in a flag window. We may be on the way down and needing picks coz we are paying out a certain players contract. Who knows.

Im really starting to think staying at 6 and taking O'Sullivan (Curtain the dream) might be the best outcome for us. Not sure trading F1's right now is very wise. So many things could happen this year and we could be looking back with regret this time next year. Really think we need to cool our jets and assess things. Dont mind us trading up to 3 if thats what we want but not sure I want us going all in on Reid as exciting as it may be.

I’ve leant this way all along. You just pay a huge premium to trade up those handful of spots, it costs you at least one other really good chance at a good player.

Easy to get attached to a couple of the kids who will go top 3-4 but there’s every chance we can get a really good player at 7 and have another go at 12.

The potential payoff for getting a Reid/McKercher/Duursma is obviously high but so too the risk of burning a heap of draft capital we really needed if they don’t fulfil their potential.

They can have Tmac or Brown

I’m guessing crows want Petty tied up in the McAdam deal. Dees no doubt will be asking massive overs for Petty. Reckon this gets done for a F2 eventually.
No way we are trading out a key forward this year unless one is coming back.

Petty is under contract for 2 more years so I’m fairly sure we’ll trade him next year and bring another big name in at the same time.

Yeah that’s why I think it’ll only get done for massive overs this year.

Jamarra wil be the best key forward in the game in 2-3 years and be a key pillar for whatever team has him.

It makes sense considering we just missed out on a flag due to having to play Tmac.

He will be a marque player who will also sell merch.

People keep complaining about out ball use going inside 50 but I am not seeing any valid suggestions here how to fix
I dont rate him. He had a great year last year and still couldn't kick goals. what did he average 1.5 goals a game? That's less than Melksham

I agree with you, but be interesting to know (We never will) how much money from Trac/Oliver/Brayshaw we could bring forward to 2024 to help our cap.
Call me crazy but I'm not sure giving Oliver a heap of extra cash rn is a good idea.

We have 1.4m in cap space from Grundy and Harmes leaving. Hardly think redirecting the cap space spent on them to a 10 year full forward is destroying our cap. Considering the club was previously happy spending thus cash on VFL plodders.

Another Mill in cap space next year also to free up. But hey, let’s bring in some skinny 18 year olds who might not even make it to solve our problems instead.

Of course it's destroying the cap. You're dumping everything on one single player as a mirscle solution. That blokes injured or has a bad game then it's all over. It's a shit strategy

It’s a lot better than spending the cash on VFL plodders and playing Tommy Mac as full forward instead like we tried to do in the finals. We are in our window now and should be going all-in opposed to piss farting around with 18 year olds who are probably only ranked high because the whole 2023 crop are trash and they bet up on them all year.

Other than maybe Walter, which gun key forwards has O’Sullivan even played on? He has been playing on trash.

No.
It's really not.
JUH isn't gonna win us the flag next year. He just ****ing ain't. Bulldogs didn't even play finals this year so he can't do it single handedly.

Then May and Gawn probably leave or drop off and we've blown all our picks and salary on second Bailey Fritsch

Would be one of the greatest knee jerk decisions ever.

Not really, if we lose Petty, with almost $2M in cap space and Tmac and Brown rocking our forward line in 2024 in what may be Gawn/Mays last year at there peak, to do nothing would be a bigger mistake.

Or rely on players from one of the shittest drafts in a long time. Even if they are top-line, it’s most likely because they have beaten up on trash competition all year which makes them look better than they are.

If we lose Petty, the worst thing we could do is make a snap panicked decision and turn one mistake into two.

I reckon JUH will end up being an absolute gun but he's a lead-up, agile, mobile key forward in the mould of Jeremy Cameron. He's not a pack crasher, contested marking beast.

Unless we dramatically change the way we move the ball forward (which I really hope we do), then spending a massive amount of cap space on a player like him wouldn't make sense.
