Yeah progress, same progress as the last 2 weeks.PORT'S PLAYS IN FOCUS
PROGRESS has been made on Port Adelaide's hopes of landing Esava Ratugolea as the Power look to broker four final-day deals on Wednesday.
The Power's two-year chase of the Geelong defender will come down to the final hours, however it is understood there were steps forward on Tuesday with communication open ahead of deadline day.
The Cats had rebuffed the Power offer of pick 25 for Ratugolea, as the Power chase the Cats key back as well as ruck pair Ivan Soldo and Jordon Sweetand Essendon defender Brandon Zerk-Thatcher.
Essendon is seeking a straight swap of Zerk-Thatcher and Xavier Duursma, while Port is looking for an added draft element to be a part of the deal.
Sweet's move to Port Adelaide from the Western Bulldogs is considered the most straightforward of their four trades, with discussion to centre on one of pick 41 or 49 to get the deal done.
Port ruckman Scott Lycett's future could hinge on the trade deals as well, with the uncontracted veteran gathering interest from some Victorian clubs looking for experienced ruck depth. – Callum Twomey

Not shooting the messengerThing is, David King has said pretty much the same thing. Suppose he's not worth the time of day either.Perhaps, maybe, digest the content rather than shooting the messenger.

They are all in again for next season hoping they can win it, but I just don't think they are good enough even if they do land their targets. Problem is if they fail next season they will have bugger all in terms of draft picks and will be in danger of doing a WC or Hawthorn and bottoming out for the next 3 years. Carr will have a massive job when he takes over.Ports approach reminds me of us in 2015 .when we gathered Dangerfeild,Henderson, Smith and Selwood .... but when we did that we had a Fr1 and a Fr1 to use...and selwood was a FA.
To chase players like they have with limited trade collateral has been a bit irresponsible. They alwasy seemed short of amo top get BZT, Sav and Solo. Sweet would probably be easily done.
We need some kind of 3rd ruckman on our list next yearOr simply just on his way out
back then ...We need some kind of 3rd ruckman on our list next year
Yep. They seem to have shot one across our bows to see if we'd flinch.Lol soldo aint worth that.
what's your opinion on what happens tomorrow? If you're talking about Lord, I still don't get how Port get lumped with some hypothetical big contract
Next year will be Lord's 4th year in the system, and while he's currently out of contract, that's simply the extent of it - he's out of contract, he's not a free agent. If Lord is happy to look at his options next year and we offer then 7 years at $700k, then it's us who's going to be paying that
At the same time, if Lord decides he'd rather stay at Port & Port are happy to offer him a new deal, then it's done so on terms they agree upon - nothing to do with any deal offered by any other club
If there's no trade agreed upon between Geelong & Port by close of business tomorrow, Ratugolea can then decide if he wants to stay at Geelong or enter the draft. If he decides to stay, we negotiate a contract at the stage - it doesn't have to be for the same deal as what Port has offered

details? That a trade will get done
Wouldn't mind getting hold of the F2 linked to Freo. If they struggle, that'd be a handy asset to hang onto.A bit of give from both sides
Pick 25 still headed out way, with a swap of future picks - F2nd from Port for our F3rd type thing

Do not expect a rational responseI should of never posted on St Kilda wall regarding if they herd the rumour if true regarding Billings to Geelong...
There that smart they make Frankston people look like Doctors
I would absolutely love that but then that's exactly the capital they got back for the future first they refused to trade.Wouldn't mind getting hold of the F2 linked to Freo. If they struggle, that'd be a handy asset to hang onto.
