Yep, this is making an appearance here also, and probably getting more useful as the season draws to a close and this discussion ramps up

I'm a fan of your posts for the most part, but gee you're going early here.

There's an argument to be made that we've already improved our hand on what we would have gotten last year. Port's offer was a pick in the mid 30s, and that was before NGA/FS bids.

25 is a good pick. Not a great pick, but a pick in a range that has produced a gazillion quality AFL footballers over the journey.

We're not talking about building through the rookie draft here like you appear to be making out.

Just off the top of my head, these players have been selected from pick 25 onwards.

Mackie said that they think by the time the GCS use all their picks to get those Academy players that pick 76 could drop down to a third-round pick and 94 to a 4th round. Plus, they could still package picks 8 & 25 to move up the draft order.

It is a bit of an eff you to Port if we believe they are looking at similar late draft players as we are.

Port would be laughing at us. Trading better picks than we ended up getting for Saldo and Sweet whilst we sat there saying “pick 25 no chance”. In the end we cave and take 71 and 96 as throw ins lol. Should’ve had some dignity and just taking 25 after they said they won’t be sweetening the deal

I'd take ZZ or C Edwards at 25 and back Stevens to slide.

If he doesn't slide all the way, trade back in and pick him up.

Wonder whether he is looking to trade up or down this draft? You’d think if it’s “packaging” then it might be to move up?

Disappointed we caved. I would have wanted the fr2 richmond got and nor 25 because i dont rate this draft.
Unless we have some other trade planned i dont see the point of picks 76 and 94 as we had picks in the 80s/100s that will come into the 50s anyway and i doubt we use more than 3-4 picks so those are picks we wont use unless we are ontrading them.

How much junior football have you watched? Serious question.

Bit disappointed, everyone knows this draft really falls away after pick 93.

Mackie on TR saying we worked around the hand Port had left. 76 expected to be in the 50s and our 3rd pick. Hard to get more as he's uncontracted and obviously wanted to keep him.

Midfield is the biggest focus in the draft and still open to doing a deal for 8.

Listening to Mackie I was of the impression we're going to trade pick 8.

After listening to Mackie on TR I have zero doubt we are wanting Sanders.

Mackie kind of mentioned we could use 8 + 25 maybe as I have questioned a few times of late here asking if it is enough to move up 1 or 2 spots if needed.

If trading 8 + 25 to the Dees for 6 or GWS for 7 to get Sanders (assuming he is avail at those picks) can be done then I'd be very happy with that.

It really just depends on the players the Dees/GWS want, they would know we want Sanders so if both clubs know who each other wants and they are happy not taking Sanders then I think it could be a real chance.

Time will tell but I'm happy to say I think it is what we are looking at trying.

Really think we will try to make Sanders happen one way or another.

It sounds like we want him... I can't see us just sitting around and hoping he lands at our pick if we think it is unlikely to happen.

The majority of the footy world thinks 25 is fair if not overs for Esava and I agree. Junk picks are inconsequential.

I am an unashamed Esava fan and I can’t make an argument that he’d be best 22 even if he stayed in 2024.

Good luck to him, I’m sure he’ll propel Port from straight sets to a home prelim smashing

I think Sav is a spud. Port have gone all in with average players and wasted 3 years of draft picks. It'll backfire.
