We have ONE pick after 18. Unless we are delisting more players we do not have room. We have 32 on the main list now and will likely have 5 picks plus a rookie. You just can’t magically produce picks if you don’t have room on your list.
Things change

We can package picks to move up

Prefer if we can do:
17+18+F3 for #8

2+15+F2 for #1

Or is it possible to do:
F2+F3 for Carl F1 - noting that they will need points for the Campo twins next year should both go top 10, maybe Ben Camporale going top 5?

2+15+57+Carl F1 for 1?

Leaves us:
#1 = H.Reid
#3 = N. Watson;)
#17 = M.Edwards
#18 = T.Jiath

I'd be happy to go with the 5x 1st rounders but l feel we need to walk out with at least 4x 1st rounders in this draft - l don't really like trading away future picks unless players gets squeezed out next year and we receive 2nd and 3rd rounders to replenish what we lost?
Slight overs in both

No need to add futures

Elijah Hollands has a court date for drug possession.

Goes some way to explaining why his trade value was so low...
These are nothing to be honest. Could be as simple as entering a festival with a coupla Mathew Capuanos on him or coming out of a cubicle after pretending to be John snow chopping up some white walkers. Doubt Carlton would have got him if it was too serious.

Maybe he was holding for a friend. Maybe he's a fiend and has two strikes to his name. Will probably be somewhere in the middle, and all the same it's not that often AFL players find themselves in court for drug charges.

Un-athletic ruckmen are obsolete.
Are they though? Mumford was a very useful brute, looking at how Darcy goes at Fremantle.. I dont think you’re right. You could be, but im not sold on what OUR ruckman should look like in a team we are building. I was talking to some old mutt supporters the other day and they reckon English is an absolute cat and has caused them to slip because he hasn’t got mongrel and its a sentiment that I somewhat agree with. Im not a Xerri lover, I think he is a long way off, but in all seriousness.. the desired ruckman for our team might be Xerri? I dont think we know yet.

If you look at the premiers, their ruckman is not athletic, he can barely football. He does apply high ball pressure which should nullified with a mis spoil to the back of the head

We can't trade with WCE if they want pick 2 or 3. It means we're literally going up one spot and giving away a freebie first rounder (most likely).

Stupid. Either they take our later firsts or get ****ed.
What’s with this rhetoric as if North giving us something we need?

We have pick 1. The club has said repeatedly it’s quite happy to keep it.

Your (relative) junk picks aren’t any good here.

Strange logic.

I don't think it is disputed that 2 or (less likely) 3 would be part of the deal. Rawling said as much yesterday.

Not sure you can really say our midfield isn't good enough. This season was such a mess that our best midfield has never even played together.

if your side is so fragile that it can only win 3 games a year because some people are injured at various stages then you have pretty much answered your own question as to why people believe we don't have the quality midfield depth.

I think we have enough to win a lot more games than we have this season, eventually, I don't know if we have the right pieces in the middle to be a premiership contender at some point in the future. If you wait until the evidence is obvious then you have probably blown your window of opportunity to address it through the draft and it will become significantly more difficult to do it via trades or free agency.

I don't think we will have access to the best midfielders available next year, if we do then we have bigger problems to worry about.

I am not sure who we are targeting or who we will draft, and I don't really care tbh. I'm happy if we get Watson or whomever.

Sheezle isn't even a defender and he won the B&F and rising star playing a role he has never played before. The kid is star quality. He didn't need to have every piece in place to have a crack and find some of the footy.

I posted yesterday - we have spoken to a 19 year old ruckman/ forward Finbarr Maley - rookie possibility.
Is he eligible for Cat B through his basketball background though?

Can we get past this "we are in the box seat" "we have pick one" "you need to make an offer we can't refuse" BS.

Pick one is just a pick. It has value, more than pick 2. It doesn't make you the Queen of Sheba. It doesn't make you the cool kid you wished you were in high school. It's just a pick, an option. Nobody needs pick one.

Clubs trade picks to get into a more advantageous position in the draft.West Coast, if they are smart, will be deciding if any possible exchange puts them in a position that is better than they are in. North will do the same. If there is an exchange they both think puts them in a better position - even a little bit - they will do it. If they don't they won't.

Reckon he had a few Gary Abletts in the pocket?

But…… but ……..but West Coast are a rich club AND they have the number 1 pick. Oh and they play in front of 50,000 supporters every second week. They are so much better than us. Who are we to think we can deal with them? I mean, did you understand how rich they are? Did I mention the supporters and 50K? You got that yeah?
Well they have the number one pick.
So, you see the conundrum for them here..…..do I need to repeat the above points?

The logic is that West Coast would probably value getting more than one very good draftee out of this spoon year. They don’t have the player leaving that North did last year to grab Sheezel and Wardlaw, but they do hold the top pick in a draft where that has extra value. May well go with the single player but there are reasons so many people think they might not.
