Agree, Crows/North/West Coast that involves a f1 is what I'd be starting with.

North and wce definitely or hawthorn (i think hawks miss the 8 again next year). I think adel on the other hand play finals but i can see them wanting to trade up (given their lack of list spots this year and welsh next year) but id want more than an 8 swap for fr1. For example 8 for 10 and 20 would do me or 8 for 10 and fr1 (we probably need to send them back a r2 or 3 in that scenario) id be ok with.

Ya. North would be thinking they can grab it without trading their own FR1. They'd be thinking they can get it with a mix of later picks this year.

Wouldn't touch Adelaide's FR1 with a 10 foot pole by itself. They're likely to win 9 of their 11 home games and a few on the road for mine. Again however I think it's more likely they're trying to get it with a suite of picks from their hand this year.

WC doesn't have the draft capital to trade for it outside of their FR1 at this point in time. They're future pick would be amazing. I think what might be on the cards however is they use the picks gained from moving out from the first spot in this draft.

Just my 2 cents

Youre right north will be trying to trade their 15/17/18 to get up to our pick or gws at 7 (especially if sanders is there but even if he isnt but caddy is) i wouldnt do 8 for say 15 and 17. I would have done it for 17 and their 2024 compo picks but they traded those.

I agree adel Fr1 could be 15-20 so i wouldnt do that clean for 8 but with other picks it could work. For eg 10 and fr1 for 8 and 25 or our future 2nd (or some other futures) id do. or 10 and 20 for 8 if the guy we want at 8 will be there at 10. Depends how much they want to jump up the order and who they are after.

It was tongue in cheek, but if the player is talented enough all clubs including ours can easily look the other way. They did with Johnson, Stokes, Stengle, etc.

I would say there is a big difference between drug use and drug addiction.

Johnson was a long time ago and was drinking IIRC, Stokes got caught in possession and Stengle got caught in possession while at another club.

The first two copped heavy punishments from the club, the latter got delisted for it by his former club.

I wouldn't call that looking the other way. That would be the Eagles.

On Gettable, it's mentioned we have a fair amount of interest for our pick 8 including interest from Carlton, Crows, Norf, Sydney and West Coast.

Got potential for a big return here if we play our cards right here on trade night if we aren't looking to take anyone.
If they wanna overpay.. let them..

Getting a FR1 this and Fr2 and a rd2 this year giving back a Fr4… sure take it
Make ‘em bleed lol

Hard to pick a team that is DEFINITELY not making top 8.
On recent showings, WCE and NM, but both teams will improve, and we've seen how quickly you can jump from bottom 2 to top 4, and from top spot to bottom 8

Oh I absolutely do. It's every bit as legitimate as 12 week "calf injuries".

3 month calf injuries can happen but you’d know that with your medical training.
Not sure about the other stuff but when being sarcastic it probably pays to pick something like unicorn that just can’t happen.

You seriously think whenever these stories do the rounds (no matter what club) that the 2-3 month "injuries" that pop up are always legitimate?

I agree Johnson's was at the lighter end of the scale especially once the full details came out. It was as much that he didn't tell the club that really put him in it. Geelong definitely looked the other way with Stokes.

Point being all clubs do it. And will continue to.

Really?

I guess we could have got permission to delist him on the spot, but not sure this is looking the other way:

Stokes will be fined $5000 and will be exiled from his teammates until round one - being forced to train at the club for the remainder of the pre-season only when other Geelong players are not present.

Imaginatively, he has been told to immediately get a full-time job and hold it until at least round four of the AFL season. The club will not find him the job.

Under the staggered suspension program Stokes can resume training with Geelong's VFL side from round one and begin playing VFL again from round five when he can also recommence training with the senior team. He will be available for selection from round eight. He must also join a drug-related community program.

Everything can change quickly but wce and nm are the most likely to be bottom 4 next year as things stand now. So those would be the future 1sts id love to get.

The players Geelong looked the other way on aren’t the guys who the club publicly punished.

Who are the best Turbo's of the draft? Fast players with big motors and good skills... for Mids, and Key Position.
Reid and McKercher are for mids, but they won't be avail for us.

Darcy Wilson also ticks those boxes as a mid and will fall just about where our 1st pick is or just after it.

Darcy Wilson looks like he has good upside and skill set, but I wouldn't put him in the Turbo category. I'd say he's above average pace, maybe top 15-20%. I'd put Leake in a very similar category, he might even be faster tbh. Both are under-sized and with some pre-seasons they can improve to the upside. I reckon if we downgrade to get multiple picks inside 25, then you go Leake, with maybe ZZ, and a George Stevens. You get Inside/Out and Flanker, Versatile Key Position and Pinch-hitting Ruck, Inside Mid and Half Back.

DeMattia isn't the same class, but he looks like he is top 5% in pace. Charlie Edwards when he gets moving also, probably top 5%-10% for pace.

If Stkilda delist Tom Highmore I'd certainly look at him to bolster or defensive stocks. Like the kid. Steady, good hands, composed. 25 yr old.

Eagles fans here, curious to see if you guys think you’d take our future 1st (you can rest assured it’ll be 1 or 2) for 8 and your future 1st?

IF that was a #1 or #2 on your part, I would rip it out of your hands, throw you what you're owed, and run down the street giggling like a 5-year old...

But I don't think the Eagles would EVER do that deal. They might be not be great off-field, but I haven't seen them reckless at the trade table (the Kelly trade was a calculated risk that was a misjudgment of where their team sat AND an unprecedented avalanche of injuries over the next 2-3 years).

I would do it every day of the week if it was pick 1 or 2. I don't think the Eagles would do that though, unless they're confident that the Cats will finish bottom 4 next year.

No way. We could easily be bottom 6 next year.
Id want 8 and our fr1 for your fr1 and fr2and even then im not sure id take the risk.

if on the other hand you would swap your fr1 for 8 and 25 id do it.

Agreed. But they (and everyone else) also know this. So they’re the only two clubs that would not even consider trading a F1 for pick 8 this year

Thats true. I was more talking in the hypothetical that wce try to trade f1 for 7 or 8 on the night if curtin is there.
The other club we could try the trade with is hawks-we know they are open to trading their fr1 (as they offered it to wce) and i do think they will miss finals again.
Melb and adel will probably be open to an f1 in a trade for our pick but they will make finals next year so you would want 10/11 and an fr1 (with us sending later picks back) to do it.
(Carlton will also be open to trading fr1 due to FS but because their pick is 22 they dont have enough of a hand to tempt us)

It would be very tempting to just take Curtin if he’s available.
