Perhaps, but Reid is worth a lot more to our club than just draft picks. Would you trade Jack Viney for Noah Anderson?
Odd comparison. Reid still has no connection to the Eagles right now, but to answer your question I'd trade Viney for Anderson tomorrow.

We’ve been s**thouse for the last couple of years, Mark Neeld Melbourne areas and supporters need something to look forward to. That excitement machine will sell out Optus every week next year. Sliding to McKercher and a (admittedly good) KPD prospect would still piss a lot of people off, even though it looks good on paper. Your answer is obviously the right footy decision but f**k I would love Jack Viney at the Eagles. Hard as nails and one of the best trainers and leaders I’ve ever seen.

Sounds like North's thinking with Horne Fancis

Fair point but even when I take the eagles blinkers off they just seem like chalk and cheese kids if you’ve listened to their interviews and without knowing the exact details of his departure it’s safe to say North got a few things wrong. I’m confident Reid will handle a move from a town of 3,000 to Perth and our interstate player retention is the best in the comp. Judd’s obviously the only one we lost and we still got the best years out of him then turned him into pick 3,4 (Kennedy) and 20.

Actually I almost would change my mind about Viney purely on the fact the leadership at our club is so ******* poxy right now we might actually need him
I considered that, but he's also one of the leaders that this has all happened under. But who knows, maybe now that it's all blown up he can be the guy to pick up the pieces. I also get future captain vibes from Anderson, but it would take a couple of years for him to settle into the side before that could even be considered.

Either way you take Anderson every day on pure talent and what he could bring to the side from that perspective.

Better edit your last post now that you’ve had a cold shower but at least you’re honest about it. If Viney isn’t in your squad driving standards and leadership you wouldn’t have won the 2021 flag. As good as Maxy and Trac are, he’s the most important person that’s walked through the door at MFC in the last 20 years. If I want a bloke going for the footy if my life depended on it I’m picking Jack Viney, I hope we throw the kitchen sink at him to get him into the Eagles coaching/development set up when he retires.

Nah on talent Anderson absolutely kills Viney in every way and I'd only re consider based on the rock bottom were at. Id still take Anderson

I'm starting to think even if Reids, Petracca good or better it still destroys our list if we give up 3 top 15 picks. I think our drop off 12 months from now with Gawn and May will be huge.

strategy then would be Free Agency to replace Gawn and May as we’d still be an attractive finals team in flag window with trade in also an option.

Decent key backs are rare as hens teeth at the moment. Ben McKay sucks and is getting paid through the nose. Can you imagine what a decent May replacement would cost?

Also there's no good key backs out of contract next year and **** paying a million a season to get in Darcy.

Wrong again you stupid Kent. Should have stuck with bluelegs correct answer instead of overthinking things

Anything worth looking at here?

STUCK IN LIMBO

Players without contracts for 2024
  • Adelaide – James Borlase
  • Brisbane Lions – Dayne Zorko
  • Collingwood – Aiden Begg, Josh Carmichael, Will Kelly, Nathan Kreuger
  • Essendon – Jaiden Hunter, Patrick Voss, Will Snelling
  • Geelong – Mitch Hardie, Flynn Kroeger
  • Gold Coast – Sandy Brock, Sam Day, Oskar Faulkhead, Hewago Oae, Bodhi Uwland, Jeremy Sharp, Jake Stein, James Tsitas
  • Melbourne – Andy Moniz-Wakefield
  • Port Adelaide – Orazio Fantasia, Sam Hayes, Scott Lycett
  • Richmond – Mate Colina
  • St Kilda – Tom Campbell, Tom Highmore, Dan McKenzie
  • Sydney – Sam Reid, Sam Wicks
  • West Coast – Zane Trew
  • Western Bulldogs – Dominic Bedendo, Hayden Crozier, Roarke Smith

I'd be interested in Sam Hayes, Mate Colina, Patrick Voss, Sandy Brock.

Get Brodie Mclauglan, too.

For my pick for our first pick, I'd like Curtin or Duursma.

IIRC Disco might get promoted to the senior list. If we have Turner and Curtin that might make them the Danfenders.

Don't know what happened to J Sharp. 2021 i recall him having a decent year and both WA clubs wanting to lure him back to WA at some point. Might be remembering wrong

We can just recruit a couple of forwards who didn't make at another club, give them some one-on-one coaching, throw them down back at Casey and see how they go. Much cheaper!
