Per GR's list of players changes since 2020, here's all the players that have departed our club (either by our choice or their own) and gone to another:

Ben Brown - Fair play, he did help Melbourne win a flag but has since been dogged by knee injuries.
Shaun Higgins/Robbie Tarrant - Left for a tilt at a flag, turns out both were largely cooked (each played about 20 games total in 2 years for their new club)
Majak Daw/Trent Dumont/Sam Durdin/Tom Campbell/Jed Anderson - were recruited as essentially "break glass in case of emergency" experienced depth that rarely/never played for their new club.
Mason Wood - turned himself into a good player for the Saints, kudos to him. Delisting/change of scenery was the kick in the backside he needed to start delivering all the teased promise on a consistent basis.
Jason Horne-Francis - not our choice to get rid of him
Todd Goldstein - 35 year old who was still our best ruckman this year but has only got one more year left (side note: He looks abysmal in red and black)
Ben McKay - Pick 3. That is all.
Oh I think you forgot Declan Mountford who might have played a covid impacted game for the WCE not to mention Mitch Hibberd got himself on * list, maybe a game or two. Ryan Clarke, serviceable at the Swans, oh and the journey man that is Wagner.

None of whom were on the list in 2019 let alone 2020. But yeah, none of those came back to bite us.

It’s a good point Jack makes to Martin - theres far more to be gained indivually through being a successful Richmond player than a North player. But he’s too dumb and too arrogant to understand why you don’t put that out into a public forum. Ofcourse he can’t resist because he likes to look like a hero and a genius.

I read that and thought it's a shame Xerri's tackle didn't do more damage, like one of the broken ribs puncturing his lung.

Fukcing arsewipe, hope clarko reads this for next game against tigers

*the tigers were the biggest laughing stock in Victoria from 1982-the mid 2010s, struggled to get a big name to go near the joint, so turnabout's fairplay I say
*If you all are really that concerned, here is a wacky little left-of-centre idea- TURN UP TO A GODDAMN GAME OCCASIONALLY!! that's the central reason we are seen as a nothing club, supporters have the power to change that but don't seem to want to bother 🤷‍♂

I’m totally sure it was that and nothing to do with money that kept Martin at Richmond. It’s a myopic thing to have said/claim to have said but who cares, really? At the time I guess it would have been bigger to help Tigers to a flag because they hadn’t got past their decades of being a laughing stock phase, while North had premiership players - dual premiership players in fact - in recent memory.

"I don't really like Richmond, and never have. I think it relates from Dad and the Carlton days. We hate them here, too," - Jarrad Waite

fact is winners have earned the right to gloat so they can say whatever they like really , its a bit foreign to us because we haven't won squat for a long time, i mean even * get to win trade week every year but i digress. ;-)

but i look forward to when we are competitive again and some one elses team is at the bottom of the pecking order taking the hits.

We almost absorbed them into us until Ross Oakley turned the proposal down.

Warren Buffett speaks about the genetic lottery of being born white, middle-class and American at a particular point in time to explain the unearned advantage he had compared with billions of others who weren't as lucky and who could not possibly achieve his wealth and success.

Jack Riewoldt just so happened to be drafted by Richmond. Under another set of circumstances, he and Dustin Martin might have been drafted by Fremantle or North Melbourne, or if they'd begun a little earlier, Gold Coast or GWS. As far as players are concerned, it's a lottery who they play for, and they should show a little more humility and respect towards their peers at other clubs, who are just as deserving of success but weren't lucky enough to end up at the right club at the right time.

luck is a bit of a perception, i met a masai warrior once when i was younger who reckoned he was so much luckeir than me at the time because he had 3 cattle and 2 wives and i had none. truth is if he is happy hes lucky.

Now you have one missus and heaps of cattle. Good luck/bad luck ... who can say.

One thing about Jack - we're one of five sides he has a win rate of under 45% against. Unfortunately all of the others have won at least one flag in the time he played.

Being charitable he just meant it was better to be a premiership player at your one and only club (that hadn't won a cup in nearly 40 years), than winning one at another club as a mercenary.

Also being charitable it was definitely this advice and not the millions of dollars that got them Dusty's signature...

Not sure it is such a good point from Jack tbh.

A hierarchy of premiership players. Mmmm that's interesting.

We'll have to remind Carey to curtsy next time he runs into Cotchin.

maybe he was my inspiration , who knows, at the time it definitely wasn't my "goal" per say, funny how times change,

Nuffies on AFL Pages...

Early draft picks aren't important says Damo. Collingwood just won a premiership without any early draft picks - except for N.Daicos, De Goey, Moore, Pendlebury, Sidebottom, Hoskin-Eliott and Quaynor.
