There's our elite small forward. Box ticked. Paul Curtis pretty handy as well as a small forward.
Both aren’t your traditional pressure forward that can crumb goals type

More your medium forwards who can take a mark and are classy

Joined the construction industry during Covid, after 30 years of different types of jobs
( owned the deli at Chadstone for 12 years and could see those God forsaken meetings at the adjacent food court from a distance, but was never invited , but that’s a different story for a different time )
Anyway back to my point
I’ve met more North boys at CFMEU tier 1 sites in the last 3 years, than what I did in 30 years of regular employment

Since the early 90s I’ve been going to the footy on my own ( the family bailed on me) but these days I go with tradies I met on the job… every home game without fail

Will be great to start winning and celebrating with my new north mates

I don’t think the trade will happen, but I certainly don’t think Leake, OSullivan won’t be left overs

Osull you would expect to go around 6-8, but wouldn't expect Leake to go before 7 therefore will be leftover by pick 8

You could be onto something

When you have a talented kid which happens to be a position of need you thank our lucky stars and take the wiz

And sit back and enjoy a 500 plus goal career
Agreed, particularly the way football is played these days and how critical that role’s become.

Unfortunately the talk around Watson and us has died right off.

I understand the need to get it in more but the way we’re currently structured I feel like that’ll just be a recipe for watching it waltz out again even more regularly than we do now.

has anybody suggested mckercher as an option?

asking for a friend

Why does it have to be McKercher vs Watson? Looks to me at face value McKercher is hard not to bank.

The discussion really should be Watson v Duursma v Curtin v Sanders (although I think he's least likely).

I would be much more ok trading F1st +15,17/18 than either 2/3+17+18.

A future 1st has so much less value than 2/3 this year.

I really believe we will win 5-8 games next year and be out of the bottom 3.
Based on the Hawks this year, it will take more wins than that to get out of the bottom three. I think the bottom three will be WCE, North and Tigers.

That's the same scenario, it's not McKercher v Watson.

I do say that reading the same tea leaves as you though, we're linked by everyone now to McKercher and I'm not sure I've seen a single draft expert or phantom with Watson in our range, despite personal affection.

I am in the McKercher and Watson camp.
I am in the Mckercher and whoever else camp. I think we'll pick up a quality player with #3 regardless of who that might be. Duursma and Watson seem to be the most favoured here, but I don't know enough about them to have a strong opinion. Curtin seems to be the big drifter in the market, which I concur with judging by his last two WAFL games. I just hope we don't trade with West Coke because I'd dearly like to hang on to our 5 first rounders with the possibility of live trading 17 or 18 to Freo for Port's F1 which could land around #14 again next year. Perhaps even Freo's F1 for #15 + our F3. I'd expect Freo to be bottom 3-6 next year. A Port or Freo deathride adds further interest and I like the idea of multiple first rounders in 2024 again.

Tbh I didn’t say it was a vs scenario

that was you

I just responded to someone asking if anyone raised watto
And just used another draftees name which people have raised

Yep, I agree to an extent, we bank McKercher as the safe Brownlow Medallist and we reach for the stars on Watson v Duursma.

Sanders seems like another safe pick as he will be a player.

Curtin just doesn't seem like a Clarko/Vodd pick at 3.

The beauty of having pick 2 and 3 is that we can blow everyone's mind with a reach like Watson, safe in the knowledge that we've banked a solid player who will regularly trouble the AA selectors.

Go back and check Harry's U18 highlights, he's a very very good crumber. His ability to read the ball is elite. In some of his highlights it looks like he knows where the ball's going to be before the ball even knows. This is in addition to his ability to find space and take a grab.

PS - I'd be very happy if we drafted the Wizard.

Fair enough.

Curtin drifting on his last 2 WAFL games? WAFL senior finals?

Meanwhile Watson is ripping up school footy.

His second goal against Sydney is the best crumb we've had in a decade

Just purely a hypothetical. I am not saying I'd do this as I'd definitely want to keep pick 2 (pick 3 I'd consider sliding to 6 and 11 on draft night if we want Curtin/Caddy/Sully) but if we were prepared to give up McKercher and Duursma we could trade down twice.

Trade 3 and 18 for Dees 6, 11 and F1.
Trade 2 and Dees F1 for Hawks 4 and F1 (not sure Hawks would do this)
Assume Hawks and Dees take McKercher and Duursma, order doesn't really matter.

4 - Watson/Curtin/Sanders (I'd probably go Watson because Dogs would take Sanders, leaving Curtin/Caddy/Sully)
6 - Curtin/Caddy/O'Sullivan
11 - Windsor/Wilson/Murphy (assuming O'Sullivan and Leake are gone, if not I'd consider them first)
15/17 - Roberts/Shoenmaker/Collard (not if Watto)/Hastie/Edwards/Goad/Green/Morris/A Reid etc. (depends on earlier picks)
