Whole show is a crock of s**t with those “famous” buyers just buying everything.

They spend the whole series talking about what demographic they’re targeting and whining over minutiae like the pool steps being unsafe for kids when a few rich attention seekers just buy them and give them away to whoever for a $50 raffle ticket. “Oh nah I won’t buy a raffle ticket for this house, I don’t like the tiles in the ensuite”
Couldn't agree more.

Plus Portelli bidding against himself or overbidding by a million bucks.

The entire series is a farce pretending its building family homes, its building competition homes for a couple of businesses and the styling, floorplan, features and aesthetic mean very little for that.

I hate to play into THAT couple’s conspiracy theories but WOW.

The problem with The Block has always been the lack of natural justice. You watch the show and you grow to like certain couples based on their style, performance, and personality. They kick arse for the whole season, but when the auction comes around, the result seems completely disconnected to the season we have just watched. The couple who happened to get the biggest or corner block just cleans up, or it comes down to the whims of the same group of weirdos that bid on the houses.

But this year… The two loveliest couples absolutely clean up, the two couples who were okay do okay, and those PIECES OF CRAP fall flat on their face.

Serendipity or shenanigans?

Danny and Portelli massively inflate the house values but that's what happens with you have mutli million and billionaires in the room.

Houses 2 and 3 were left to the market and that's what it was telling us.

H3 as I said a few times, was that corner block and the only people keen on corner blocks are developers look for knock downs.

Portelli just felt like splashing a bit of cash or H4, because well he like it and he can. Same with the girls really.

It will be interesting to see what happens with H2, they may jabe a buyer at 3.2m by the sounds of it.

Get the houses back to the 1.5 ro 2 mill and you'll see the market open up.

Don't think that's a sexy enough price point for the show TBH.

There's some pretty stock standard suburban suburbs in Greater Melbourne with older run down homes on reasonable blocks of land that go around that mark that are nothing special.

For the fully glitzed out premium houses the show claims to provide to go for 1.5mil it'd have to be in an area where land value is minimal, e.g. some low value regional or in a bog average suburban suburb.

1.5 million really doesn't get you all that far for a house and land, let alone one as premium as the Block houses are marketed to be.

Haven't covered half of their wages? So these two make 550-600k a year?

Tonight was the only episode I’ve watched but I’d heard these two were tiprats.

But wtf was that comment about? He looks like he sells baggies of talcum powder to naive high school kids with his shithouse finger tatts, I’m calling bullshit on them earning that much.

Maybe she has an OnlyFans… 🤣

So once we all know the reserve, how do they expect someone to bid much overs? Unless there are multiple interested, or you are feeling generous and think they deserve a decent payday…

As it stands A&L are still ahead of K&B with the value of the car alone I guess…

Yeah probably needs to be a that 2ish end. But the issue is at 3+ what was clear is that if Danny and Portelli aren't bidding, then there isn't much happening.

Maybe 2.5 is the key and really you need to work in that area. I don't know to be honest but it's not going well for 50% of them.

But then again, them all doing well.prbably isn't the best TV either is it.

What will the Phillip Island reserves be? like 800k?

You’d be suprised. PI and Torquay have gone gang busters in the last few years. I lived in Torquay about 15 years ago and you’d get a place for under $100k no problems, now you’d struggle to find a decent block of land for under $500-$600k.
There’s only so many blocks and houses for the elites to buy in toorak etc, so now they’re inflating the holiday home suburbs.

Yeh agreed, I live in Point Cook we’ve had a couple of places go recently for nearly $2m. That’s ****ing insane. If they did a block out here or even Weribee they’d get $3m+ given they’d go bigger blocks and still get name recognition. It would have be block Officer or some shit before you’d have anything remotely affordable for the average punter

Not to mention we're still WFH, so you have that element as well.

*Things that make you feel old: I can remember Torquay when it was literally one mega Quicksilver outlet store and not much else.

It was almost like H3 agent/auctioneer didn't want to be there, his behaviour was odd, if that is how he is normally then he wouldn't be in business. Just maybe after the way they behaved he didn't want to be associated with them, and put in a token effort to look after himself, to avoid the cancel culture that exists. And Kristy comments that Australia got what we went, damn straight we did. I'm all for shit stirring and drama, without the show would be a bit boring, and you can easily have fun and shit stir without making it personal. A villain doesn't have to be a total campaigner to others. Sharon and hubby were the drama last series and they weren't no where nearly despised as Kristy & the bludger. At the end of the day you reap what you sew, and that is exactly what H2 & H3 got.

Aw look I take a little offence at that.

1. Who cares if we did.
2. Its not like we have a direct influence on the result and
3. Trust me hun (talking directly to Kristy) IF you had made some srs money at auction, trust me, we would not lose ANY sleep whatsoever over it. We'd crack it yeah, carry on a little, and then move on within 24 hours.

So yeah... stuff her lol.

And yep. Good point.

*And don't carry on about the edit. If anything they got a favourable edit towards the end, cause they realised they were getting so much backlash about the bullying.

From memory Portelli uses the contestants on the advert videos for the houses when they raffle them. So maybe don't be a tool on the show, along with ensuring neale has lamp's, Darren has textures and shayna has face level storage.

And the noobs in H3 would have known none of this, because they did not watch one episode of the show before going on.

No one to blame but themselves.

Google maps has Phillip Island the block 2024 on there and they look like little transportable joints.

Reckon it'll be a new house/s from scratch (slab etc) rather than reno.

They should do a block with 100 or more contestants doing up 2 bed units for renting and the winners get 12 months rent or something lol

Wonthaggi is pretty close for some of it (40 mins). There's a Mitre 10 in Wonthaggi. But they'll have to drive to Cranbourne for Freedom, etc., which is a bit over an hour away.
I'm assuming they'll hit up delivery hard on this series.

Thank christ for that.

The ones up in Gisborne looked absolutely awful, the combination of the old v new. Just horrendous imo.
