I think if we want a mid with speed and power we should look at Kane McAuliffe. He was 5th in the 20m sprint behind Lance. and rated well in the vertical and running leap.

Disposal :/

Not worth the bitching on big footy that we'd constantly get.

Looking at the clubs with the remaining earliest picks who might be likely to trade for one of our 3rd rounders, Dogs #47, North #48, GCS #50 & GWS #51. I think those clubs will have had their fill by that time, so hopefully there is still a player we like on the board around then.

For what its worth if I love Cooper Simpson and think he has the trade marks to make it as a very good AFL player. If we were to take Simpson it would have to be at #33 I cant see lasting to our 4th. Having said that I have faith the club will make the right decisions.

We took the best available. Which is the best choice.
I think the question some were asking is…was he the best available when James Leake was still on the table. It’s a valid question, especially if as some say he’s got a bit of ‘throw him anywhere for a contest Mitchito Owens’ about him.

For the record, I like the fact we picked up a future second.

But there are lots here who are closer to Leake than us who are disappointed.

Does anyone have the info from behind the paywall?

The first pick of the #AFLDraft's second round isn't far away - and

has some mail on who the Saints could take

Leake rose from nowhere into top 10 consideration and then went the pick before Wilson.

I’d say talent wise they are on par the issue with Leake is he is a utility.

You have big wraps on the kid.
i just think we need another quality ruck on the list. i dont think TC has much time left. i dont think we will get anyone decent who will wanna play 2nd string to marshall.

i want someone we can turn into one of the comps best. he has some attributes that make you think wow!

the dudes 206-208CM with some agility. looks like he needs to develop and put on size but thats what an AFL club should be doing. can take a good grab. its that right mix of height, mobility and marking game plus a massive upside on what we can do for his development.

plus the guy sounds super competitive.

Sounds good to me. 208cm and athletic is freak territory

Depends how you rate them, clearly Wilson was in the same bracket with Edwards and others. Collard just looks a dumb choice Imo and yeah building a team that wants to stay together matters. Anyway it’s just my opinion take it with a grain of salt, i‘ll be cheering for them to succeed the same as everyone else.

Don't mind Collard, real gamble though. He has some special traits but talent isn't everything that makes a successful career. I probably would have hoped that he gets through to the next pick but if they rate him I trust them to roll the dice. So far Toce has been very solid, I'm trusting him to have made another good call. I thought Nas was a want-away, low production outside player that wouldn't win his own ball. He's ended up one of our best pick-ups in 20 years.

Clubs expect St Kilda to pounce on a ruckman who plays in the mould of All-Australian Tim English when the draft resumes on Tuesday night.
Securing Mitchell Edwards would see the Saints poach two West Australians from West Coast and Fremantle’s clutches.

Edwards is in the Dockers’ Next Generation Academy while Lance Collard, who the Saints drafted at No.28 last night, was in West Coast’s Next Generation Academy.

But under AFL rules clubs are not allowed to match bids for their NGA prospects inside the first 40 selections.

The Saints traded up to pick No.33 – the fourth selection of the second round – yesterday in exchange for a later pick and a future third-round selection.

They were linked to ruckman Will Green in the first round, but the Northern Knights co-captain was selected by Sydney before the Saints entered the draft.

Edwards, 18, stands 206cm. The Peel Thunder boy has also been linked to Carlton, which holds the pick after St Kilda (No.34).

West Coast will field offers for the first pick of the second round as clubs today consider whether any prospects they rated highly remained on the board and were worth trading up for.

But after securing only one player – generational talent Harley Reid – on Monday it is likely that the Eagles will keep the pick.
