How would we go appointing Sheedy to a position of Football and media operations manager with some sort of role with player welfare.? The idea stems from another rumour that suggested that Sheedy was going to be appointed to a simliar postion at Richmond.
I know the first problem people will see is that it could be a Sheedy lead side by stealth and any new coach would be a puppet. Another problem would be finding a coach not intimidated by having the former coach around in that role.
The above factors aside i think it is a role worth looking at if Sheeds himself wanted to stay on (and i repeat looking at , im not saying just jump in and hire him now). Obviously you have to remove him from match selection and any match day involvement so he had zero power in that area. You would also not have him involved with the new recruiting set up.
It would leave Sheedy free to play a continual role in promoting the club in the media , on radio and interstate. His skill in player welfare would be a plus and it would take pressure of a new coach if he had to deal with only the football issues and only had to do the media work that was involved with the football side of things.I fell his skillset would be ideal to work in such a role.
I dont know if it is something that Sheedy would even look at given he still firmly belives in his ability to coach and it may not work if he cant get past those issues.
