Would have thought a person intimately involved at AFL level then worked in high finance would be more equipped than most.

so you've selectively quoted the richo part. so i'll address that.

scrappy you must know more than those at the club if you think its rubbish or bullshit.

others know this, but i was called by someone at the club off the back of an email complaint in regards to the richo extension. i was told that lethers doesn't hold back and that if he thought richo wasn't up to it he would sack him now and pay him out, regardless of the extention that he inherited. they then went on to say that lether's thinks richo is a good coach he just needs more support. so they went and got ratts. they were also in the market for 3 decent free agents and had identified issues in list management around trout. also highlighted we have too many poor kicks. they thought with the right support around richo they would play finals. i remember being taken back about how much weight they put on the ratten appointment as senior assistant.

that's their words. not mine. it was their assessment of the football club then.

given you think it's rubbish i think it just goes to show how far off their assessment actually was.

which we shouldn't be a surprise by given the flip flopping in assessment that also occurred under ratts.

they either come up through recruiting or player management. gags didnt do either, which is what made it really weird.

the clear majority work their way through recruiting and get promoted. you get the odd one or two jumping straight out of player management. or you get the traineeship type arrangement when the long term list boss is training up his replacement.

Adelaide -> player management
Brisbane -> experienced AFL recruiter
Collingwood -> experienced AFL list manager
Carlton -> experienced AFL recruiter
Essendon -> AFL development coach + WAFL footy manager
Freo -> experienced AFL recruiter
GC -> experienced list manager
Geelong -> Wells has trained up Mackie over the last 4 years
GWS -> can't find
Hawthorn -> experienced AFL recruiter
Melbourne -> long time in football but was a recruiter prior to becoming list boss
NM -> long time in football mainly assistant coaching
Port -> experience AFL recruiter
Richmond -> long time in footy was at port adelaide moved to tigers to do list analysis then promoted
Sydney -> experienced AFL list manager
WB -> experienced recruiter and been in footy a long time
WCE -> lots of churn here but basically they appointed vozzo who was a player manager... then brady rawlings (now NM).. then Glass (something really weird here happened and there was some rumours) then promoted their long time recruiter... who's now retired.

Ok, look it's pretty straight forward.
You sent an email of compliant, which was fair enough.
Someone involved in public relations gave you a call and told you whaterer bullcrap they thought would help smooth you over and get your money. And that's all it was.
You don't want to admit that you bought it hook, line and sinker coz you then spent thousands more on memberships. But that's just what happened I'm sorry to say.

Lethers was new in the gig and did not have the sway to buck Finnis and terminate Richo. As a measure of Lethers supposed authority, the exact same again happened with Ratts' extension despite Lethers' elevation to COO by that time. Finnis was still in charge.

Ratt's worked with Cho at the Scum, and according to Cho, it was he that initiated courting Ratts. That said, Lethers MO was to grab former staffers of the Hawks premiership machine so Ratts fit the mold.
The support put around Richo, was then seamlessly transferred to Ratts.

Yeah I agree - thats why you get someone who hasn't just "worked in a bank" but has the AFL cred as well.

40 AFL games, 200+ SANFL games, multiple b&f wins, captain, premiership player - seems a fair start.

People are talking through their a**** if they reckon his skillset didn't fit the position.

The list was in a much better position when he left than when he started so that's all that counts.

No point saying 'experienced AFL list manager' what was their background, was it finance, what did they do before List Manager, no such thing as Assistsnt List Manager, so every List Manager had no 'experience' before becoming a list manager.
What was their experience with contracts and dealing with managers, what were their qualifications to do so?
It is bordering on hysterical, the

2. The criticism.of a List manager that fixed our TPP and who recruited pretty well.

I don't think he "fixed our tpp" reports were we had been banking the tpp in the years leading up to his start. If anything he spent it.

You can't say no one knows what the detail is and then male a blanket statement like he fixed our tpp.

He's been head hunted has he? Looks like he wasn't that ideal. I'd say that others were probably responsible for the stuff you're crediting him with. Lethers got his mate down, he ended up sacked but somehow we have people scrambling to deify him still.

He paid up big to bring in Hill, Ryder, Howard and Butler at the cost of the draft. That was a misread of how close we were to a flag. That is nearly the worst mistake a list manger can make. Clumsy handling of Luke Dunstan that meant a player didn't want to go back to the club and preferred retiring. We apparently let players go due to having others contracted on longer than necessary contracts so needed spots. he was hardly a brilliant operator.

Cause he fixed the TPP. 95% was needed to be spent, he structured the contracts going forward to allow the money to be banked to the point we could almost land DeGoey.
And not all of them had list management experience at all, and I would bet not one would have the financial acumen Gallagher had.
It is hard to believe that people with no idea of his actual KRA's and what his job entailed from a financial and legal could critisise him. If he was as bad as everyone says he is out TPP would have been shot for years after he was gone, but this is not the case.
Do people think these things just automatically just happen?
And this is not even addressing his drafting and recruitment that was spoken about earlier which is being shown to be very good

His tenure was fine, he made some mistakes, but overall did a good job.

But he gets shitcanned because he didn't reach the emolument standards of people who didn't even know the criteria for emolument was.

My God anything you post should be discounted on that alone.
As for the five recruits, they were to fill gaping holes in the list and Ross Lyon still has the four that have not retired still in his first 22. Why hasn't he replaced them all? You reckon they are Gops, why not get other gops to replace them.

You have never worked in a membership organisation or as a list manager and really are totally ignorant. You 'surmise' and you 'think' other did duties without having a clue.
Anyone who thinks Luke Dunstsn was going to take us anywhere should have absolutely no opinion on list management, let alone the financial or contractual side of the job.
Gallagher is gone and SOS looks good so I don't care, but the constant shitcanning of a blokes job that you have never done and you things up about to suit your position is frankly embarrassing for you.
