The war against renewable energy

Most days during that time the wholesale rates are near negative..
I’d say they jack up the prices in other periods…

It’s called the power of renewable energy.
It’s why we don’t need to go nuclear…
Storage is the key…like snowy 2
Yeah, Energy retailers like Dodo will be our saviours.

You quoted a couple of companies who buy energy at wholesale price , then sell it with an overall markup throwing in a bonus freebie.

Huh?

Amber electric pass on wholesale rates for a fee… but it’s not very viable if you don’t have a home battery system… if you do, you can actually make money off spikes when the dirty fuel is needed. These spikes will disappear once Snowy 2 is online and there is more battery storage..
There are a few retailers offering cheap rates at certain periods during the day (some offering free electricity)… again if you have home battery storage you could charge during the day for free and use in peak periods…

It’s just maths. I’ve done the sums and I’m getting a battery and more solar to add to current solar system.
In my situation it’ll pay its self off 6-7 years…
Warranty on battery is 10,000 cycles.

Nuclear would increase the cost of electricity and push more people off the grid and into home storage. Which is cheaper.
Who will be left to pay for the grid 😂.

The libs provided the best response to Nuclear

If you don't know, vote no

It’ll be confusing trying to work out wether the old man shouting at the clouds has solar or not…

That’s easy … Gina has it
I thought last week we needed to refer to her as Ms Gina Reinhart AO.

But that is the detail we need. Nuclear is 30 years away. Ms Rinehart is 70 and I do have concerns about her long term health. She doesn't have a good relationship with her children; so what is the succession plan? (I am assuming she isn't a witch)

This is a bit sobering.

So sobering. Lucky the existing energy source for vehicles, flammable liquid, is totally safe and never has a risk of catching of fire eh…….

I used to work on marine oil tankers so am well aware. You could add in that fire of fertiliser in syria?

The other day I left my e-bike in the car for an hour or so…the battery got so hot. Lucky. Not again. So I’m not anti the technology

Firefighters will know that chemical fires are by far the most difficult to combat

Fires associated with the batteries are on the rise

According to Fire Rescue NSW statistics, there have been 45 lithium-ion battery-related fires recorded in NSW so far this year.

There were 269 such fires recorded in 2023.

This is where people need to understand that energy storage is fundamentally dangerous, a lot of potential energy ready to come out.
They also need to understand that coal/oil/gas are also energy stores not sources. The sources are fundamentally only solar and geothermal(maybe nuclear could be a separate group but it's closely related)

Put Bowen's policies in a blender and go Nuclear...Australia has a massive head start, but Bowen is stuck on the starting line refusing to move!
You're parroting the party line mate. Nuclear in Australia is a pipe dream, and Dutton is doing himself more harm than good listening to Rinehart here.

Do we actually? I dunno enough about it.
No lol. At best we have 3 mines that export raw ore, exploration stopped a decade ago too

Federal/state bans, no refining/enrichment capability, no designs for plants(these could be bought), no engineering/scientific labour available, no waste sites approved(this is probably our one advantage tbf)

Put nuclear in the NT near the mines and convert the energy to hudrogen fuel to be shipped to population centres
You lose so much more energy in the liquification/storage stage than building a plant next to a city. Hydrogen is the smallest gas, it does not want to be stored or liquefied. Just a Twiggy pipe dream

Plus what are you going to run off this hydrogen fuel, not like you can just bung it in a standard ICE
