I doubts if we make that many changes after a win

I think Weiters and Martin would be given another week - so RD4 - to be sure to be sure

O Hollands will be persisted with

In: E Hollands, Motlop

Out: Fantasia, Kennedy
It was a win wasn’t it.

Maybe they make less changes - but by all reports Weiters and Martin will be ready.

No point holding them back if they are.

I'd love to see these guys in the team but if there is even a 5% doubt over whether they are ready I'd be taking the conservative route and give them another week to recover. We really do not need to rush them back in.

I haven’t heard anything about rushing them back have you?

If ready, they play.

The second the game ended I rewound to Boyd's miss to check the before and after scores - the AFL definitely owes us a point.
No. Charlie's brain fade went on the scoreboard by mistake as a point. Notice when Boyd kicked his point the scoreboard didn't change. After his shot, the scoreboard went down for a few seconds then come back up the same score. Heard the explanation on SEN this morning.

We are getting good at winning close games, which is generally a sign of good depth and plenty of rotations as well as good fitness. We probably got lucky here with Richmond having a number of in game injuries, we were always going to finish better than they would. I thought Richmond looked pretty good for a lot of the game so it's fair to say we probably overcame a decent side.

Our backline outs IMO are noticeable. Marchbank and Weitering are going to make a hell of a difference. We weren't quite at full strength intercepting wise and we also were unorganised at times with space in the middle of their forward 50 allowing for some easy shots on goal.

Back 6 were alright though McGovern, Saad, Boyd, Williams all gave a heap of rebound up the ground. Young was serviceable on Lynch. Yes WEitering is going to do a lot better but for a backup player he did well. Kemp made some mistakes but he gives us some great run and his leg speed is really good. Marchbank IMO is still the better option for CHB. Newman was also good.

Our midfield was ok. Cripps and Cerra didn't see a lot of it for the first half. Carroll was impressive. Needs time at the level but will get better. I didn't realise Carroll had such good leg speed but he demonstrated he does. Filling the hole left by Walsh admirably. Hewett was pretty consistent. DeKoning is a much improved player. Like his jump and when he jumps into the opposition ruck. He's really mobile around the field. Acres was really good. I liked Hollands game and am hoping that he builds up to finding more of the footy.

Our forwards are a bit up and down. McKay and Curnow were both pretty good. Fantasia is still finding his feet, didn't make the most of his opportunities. Owies continues to kick goals and works really hard very high up the ground. Cuningham was ok. Cottrell was ok. Kennedy was ok. Fogarty was ok. Durdin looked lively when he came on. None of our small forwards looked particularly dangerous and I think there is room for another marking forward, like Jack Martin.

Marchbank, Weitering, Walsh and Martin will all fill holes and make us better. Good to get the 4 points.

Very fortunate to be 2-0.
Who takes Larkey this week?
This guy is the #1 forward in the game, 71 goals in a team that was 17th says it all.
JW might not be back and if he is it's not ideal preparation.
Could Kemp play on him? What about Lemmey?....not confident in Young at all.

Bye next week.

No, I haven't, I was just saying that I hope that they are 100% ready before we play them. It wouldn't at all bother me if they both waited another week. I'm especially wary where Martin is concerned.

Remember when we used to start the season 0-2 every year?

We're 2-0 (incl playing Bris at the Gabba). Let's just appreciate that for a moment.
2-0 after round 1 at that too...haha. Only happened once before in 1979 when one round 3 game was played before round 1. That was us too after we beat Essendon. We were 2-0 after round 1 then too.

Larkey is reaping the benefits that Fev did with us... they only decent target in a poor performing team that nails his chances more often than not. Let's see what happens if we double team him (which we should). And Stephenson and the Zurhaar don't have their typical games of the year against us.

I'm relieved no Goldstein (although Clarko may not have played him) as he's always been great against us. Their list has transformed significantly the last 2 seasons that I can hardly recognise it.... and with that the unknown is something they can use as a strength, couple with Clarkos tactical brain.

Would love to have a year like 79, we only lost 3 games on the way to a Premiership that year.

He had to be after his third quarter

The set shot on an angle from 65 out, followed by the attempted speccy at the top of their goalsquare were coach killers. Will learn, but prone to tripping over his ego.
You'd have the thought the back line coach would have a word to Kemp about attempting big "speccie's" in the backline. If it doesnt pay off immediately the opposition have the extra guy at the fall as Kemp ends on the ground?

As ugly a win as you'll see.
Prefer that to an honourable loss though.
Respect the Tigers effort with 3 men down, huge.
I must re-watch the Boyd point and yes, wtf happened with that score review for Charlie? Why waste time with a score review if it's a free kick?
It's really 2 men down with the sub. They had 2 on the bench while we had 4, which is still a nice advantage.

Unexpected and welcome addition. They clearly like him, as he was straight into the centre square last week and this. With the big boys, too - setting up with TDK, Cripps, Hewett, etc. Didn't look out of place, either.
He was on Dusty at one point.
Carroll is a diamond in the rough and will only improve.

Love Curnow and part of what makes him great is that he does play on instinct, but geez...did anyone else get flashbacks to the R23 Collingwood game from 2022...

Team is up in a close game, just go back and take your 30 at the very least.
Said that very memory to Little Dirty last night at the game.....

What a (Jimthe)great stat!

Cardiac Carlton OR Clucth Carlton.

Every team has close games. Very fine line between winning/losing those.

Important to end up on the right side. Collingwood's last two seasons have been built on close wins.

Interesting to see the boys slowed things down in final minutes and sent Charlie back.

Not saying it was pretty or perfect, but you can at least see that the coaches are trying things and the boys have practiced drills.
