Luckily we're not playing GWS away every week, I guess.

They'll pants better teams than us at home.

I know we're sick of losing "wah wah poor me I'm so sick of it"..but expectations should be kept realistic. 6 wins with the holes we have would be an achievable result hopefully.

It was always a tough start. 3 of the top four teams from last year in the first month with all 3 of them hungry as they could all argue they were only a couple of kicks away was always going to be a tough start and not helped by losing some of our only quality senior depth before a ball was bounced in Logue & Simpkin.

Seems to be a fair bit of drama about who will relieve Xerri for a bit if CCJ is dropped, pretty sure i saw Marlion Pickett do this, not ineffectively v Carlton, Greenwood is more than capable if needed, and adds good defensive pressure too, not the big drama it's being talked up imo.

Greenwood adds so much more than CJ. He can ruck just as well, will kick at least 1 goal, can push to the backline and cover injury, or have spurts in the middle if we need some defensive mid time.

CJ only played 55% game time and only had 4 hitouts. Surely we get more out of Greenwood.

No brainer IMO.

I don’t like our team balance. Way too many mids competing for similar spots, potentially limiting each others effectiveness.
Not enough KPP especially in defence, no Chom still? This glaring hole hasn’t really been addressed.
Senior players being misused (eg Greenwood, a handy leader out there, second ruck and tackling machine all of which which we’re always screaming out for) and Shiels used as sub.
We can sit here and brainstorm changes but we’ll keep seeing the same thing.
I’m not convinced we’ve addressed what we need to nor are we optimising what we’ve got. But hey, who am I to suggest improvements to a perennial bottom 4 organisation?

Greenwood into defence is an underrated idea. But that would take thinking outside of the square that I fear those in charge of our team aren’t capable of.

Adding Comben is an easy decision, gives us flexibility to move him forward if we get slaughtered in the air again this week.
I don't think its that easy. Dawson was great. Pink had a height issue against Hogan, but I don't want to see him get dropped after one game given the endeavour he showed. Corr was very ordinary but he's the only experienced tall defender available.

I think all decisions beyond replacing Goater and CCJ are actually a bit harder than many posters suggest.

Dawson is a decent matchup for Amiss with his speed so not too worried there

Def concerned about their midfield though. Looked unreal against the lions. As much as I love Tom Powell and still think he could be an elite mid, Serong is incredible

Lack of genuine speed in the middle is an issue. Thomas is a much larger hole than many give credit to. Powell needs speed around him to work, and we really only have Wardlaw

Freo’s tall forwards are B grade at best.

Will give a decent indication of the level of our current KPD’s.

If they kick 6+ between them, then it’s going to be a long season.
Nah amiss is an absolute gun and similar to larkey doesn't need many chances to hurt you

Tracy is a grafter but can cause issues with his competitiveness and contested marking

What the fwd's and mids need to do is stop the bloody ball getting in there with any semblance of co-ordination.
I get very dark on our non-defensive lot down there. Larkey l'll give a pass too because we forever need him within 40 metres of goal.
But Zurhaar's, Stephenson's, Curtis's goals get cancelled out if it just gets waltzed down the other end for the opposition to score.
Tag on Serong would be nice too, but is anyone capable ? Scott ? Hurt him the other way ? Tucker ?

I think Simpkin's return, when it may be, will do a bit to improve the forward pressure we saw last Saturday.

Agree. We had 1.89m Zurhaar in there at one point.

Hard to do anything about Serong, he looked a class above Brisbane and that's saying something. They had Robertson watching him closely in the second half and it didn't matter. You could go LDU head to head and try to be more damaging going the other way.

I'm all for backing in Pink and Corr—they did quite well against a tsunami. Comben didn't play in the 1's all preseason so he's clearly still working on his craft/fitness. Don't be fooled by some intraclub hype.

Amiss is not an absolute gun. He’s a young, potentially good KPF who averaged less than two goals a game last year. Didn’t kick a goal against us last year and had three touches.

Treacy is a dime a dozen place holder KPF.

Brisbane allowing those two to combine for seven goals cost them the match.

Agreed also improve the midfield, though we have young guns in there, we desperately lacked leadership in there…

I must be the only one who thinks we're a sneaky chance on Good Friday. Shlong, Brisbane, no hope, but I think we can rattle Carlton. As long as the umps are obliging, of course. What a mare they had last year

I think McKay and Curnow are a sneaky chance to outscore us. Actually, much more than a sneaky chance.

I'd much prefer Greenwood chopping out than have CCJ do nothing for 90% of a game.

Last year we had Corr and Bonar (lol) as their match ups and they kicked 10.

Now we have Corr and Pink/Dawson.

They’ll match that quite easily IMO.

You campaigners are SEVERELY underestimating the impact of Wardlaw having to play a lone defensive hand in midfield. Corr was the only one in the back six who cops a fail for his efforts on the weekend. We need reinforcements up the field. Jy provides that. Phillips provides it in the contest. Come to think of it, so do Greenwood and Shiels. LMac can play defence when his brain is working. Seriously, am I taking crazy pills? If Taylor was on our team last week, he doesn't stop Hogan. It was knife-through-butter type stuff all game
