Official injury list (10) released 20/8

Season (10) :
• Noah Long (Knee)
• Elijah Hewett (Foot)
• Tyler Brockman (Ankle)
• Callum Jamieson (Ankle/Knee)
• Dom Sheed (Foot/Hamstring)
• Luke Edwards (Concussion)
• Josh Rotham (Abdominal)
• Tom Barrass (Back/Hamstring) - Was 1-2 weeks
• Jeremy McGovern (Thumb) - New
• Jamaine Jones (Concussion) - New

It’s the last game of the season so all players are now listed as out for the season

Chesser and Burgiel have both been removed from the list after recovering from their respective injuries

Andrew Gaff has retired and won’t be available to play

So the clubs injury report is now just outright rewriting history to to try to cover for their utter incompetence.

Allen did not report any soreness before, during or immediately after Sunday’s match against Port Adelaide, but underwent scans on Tuesday after experiencing swelling which revealed some bone stress.

So are we all just going to pretend that he didn't miss the final preseason game against the crows with knee soreness before being cleared to play against port?!

He got sore, they failed to correctly diagnose the issue, and as they did time after time and player after player for the past two years they figured 'she'll be right' and sent him out to play port. And it got worse and now he will miss much longer.

That's all there is to it.

I honestly don't know what the point is in supporting this lying, incompetent excuse for a club anymore. Nothing has changed and anyone, member or journalist who is willing to accept the utter, utter bullshit emanating from these self serving liars at this point needs to check themselves in for a brain scan. They ****ed up. They didn't properly diagnose an injury and sent arguably our most important player out on the field when he absolutely shouldn't have been there..and now his season is down the toilet. Whoops. Let's chalk it up to experience..like we did with Shuey and Naitanui, and Ryan, and Sheed. And Yeo's two solid years of OP, and McGovern's never ending issues, and Barrass playing half a wooden spoon season with a fractured back, and Sheppard and Venables. Lets keep pretending that's just bad luck.

This has surely got to be the point where everyone stops pretending? Surely?!
Do you feel better now after that outburst?

Operation Burgiel is in full effect

I just don't really care anymore. It's a development year anyway, this gives us an opportunity to see how J Williams and Maric go.
I mean, Oscar is still developing also.

This is a (potentially) devastating blow.

Knee soreness that flared up after Allen returned from Adelaide but no timeline yet

"Elijah, we're still working through a process, been a bit slower than we'd hoped, so we'll give you some more updates and a bit more info over the next couple of weeks."

That doesn't sound very promising at all to be honest. Feels to me like an announcement of surgery could be on the horizon, but we'll see what the updates are in the coming weeks.

In better news it looks like we'll have players returning most weeks over the coming period:
  • Harry Edwards next week
  • Potentially Culley and Ryan the week after, with Sheed a chance as well
  • Archer Reid a couple of weeks after that
  • Flynn and Bazzo (and Allen?) a couple more weeks after

If you compare our injury situation with the rest of the clubs, it's not great - but certainly not as bad as what some other clubs (Fremantle, St Kilda) are dealing with currently, and nowhere near some of the nightmarish injury lists we've had over the last couple of years.

We're likely to have 35/44 players available this weekend, which is fairly similar to the position clubs like Brisbane, Carlton, Essendon, Geelong, GWS, Hawthorn and Melbourne are in also.

Dr google is smarter. When they upgrade your meds consider it is all due to AO! Not OA.

I agree, I don't know what the point is of you supporting this club any more.

Quit trying to be sports med physio/physician. You haven't a clue.

Soreness isn't a cry for MRI scans straight off the bat. If it was we would MRI half the players in the AFL weekly.

The swelling was the change in physical examination requiring further investigations....this happens with a lot bone stress related injuries.

Not to worry, I snapped this pic just this morning. It seems the club are replacing the MRP surface with something a bit more forgiving, the worker said it should be ready in a few days.

Some of our supporters could definitely use some hardening up.

Biceps femoris attaches to the head of fibula and the posterior capsule of the knee. It holds on like spidermans web claw.

That’s the biceps femoris tendon insertion. It is NOT what was injured. The injury was to the semitendonosus and gracilis tendons which attach on the front of the tibia at the pes anserinus.

One aspect of all this also is the club at best ignored Archer Reids setback but in reality just flat out lied about ir or think we dont care about it. Why did the club just flat out leave out and not talk about Archer Reids injury setback. No articles on it, nothing. They just chucked him in at 5-6 weeks some 2 months after he stopped fully training and was injured.

The whole situation is weird. The club should be asked why we just dont discuss player injuries openly like others do.

WTF are you talking about? He was in a knee brace a week after being drafted and the club talked about his injury last year.

It doesn’t go into detail but the club did explain it back in December

He’s been on a slow build since

He had a setback from that is what im talking about... The fact you think its to do with when he was drafted proves my point doesnt it?
What setback? They found the issue when he arrived at the club and it was discovered in the first week. There's been no 'setback' and he's now back in full training.
